Mindful resolutions | The sky is falling in
https://theskyisfallingin.blog/2016/12/31/mindful-resolutions
The sky is falling in. Anxiety, mental health and stigma. Film, TV and theatre reviews. Posted in Mental health. I just saw an article shared by Kay Sheldon. On Twitter from the Telegraph – Knitting, crocheting and jam-making improve mental health, study finds. And it got me thinking about mindfulness. I have been learning all about Person-Centred Planning. Through some of our senior leaders at Home Group. Which I did the day after Boxing Day – and it helped bring me out of a week of feeling on edg...

woodside stories: The drama that is ducks
http://woodsidestories.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-drama-that-is-ducks.html
Wednesday, 4 March 2015. The drama that is ducks. I used to take my daughter to the park to feed the ducks when she was small. She enjoyed it and so did I. At that time, I didn't really give much thought to the ducks themselves. Oh how times change. Now we have our own domesticated bunch, I am learning fast that they are not the benign little quacky things you see paddling by at your local pond. Far from it. I have tried to give them away but have had no takers, and so it looks like we will be having roa...

woodside stories: May 2015
http://woodsidestories.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, 10 May 2015. Last week saw a huge leap forwards into the building of our future home. Not only did we submit final plans to the council (I am going to write another post about this very soon) but we also had the heavy machinery in to lay drains and flatten the site. Hard to make this as gentle on the planet as we can. The upshot is, after two days of digging and moving mounds of earth, we have a well drained site all ready for building on. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Weird stuff that happens.

woodside stories: June 2015
http://woodsidestories.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, 18 June 2015. Posted from my phone, so probably not very well formatted. Because I am a bad, bad blogger I am rolling two seasons in to one post. We waited for a really long time for Spring to arrive, when it finally did it was all systems go. All inside jobs were left to slide and it was finally time to focus on creating a garden and a home. I swear sometimes geese are like over tired toddlers. They like to push buttons and see what happens. So, we aren't actually building anything. Instea...

woodside stories: November 2014
http://woodsidestories.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Friday, 21 November 2014. Off grid living should be re-named Patient Living, as you spend a great deal of time waiting. You can be frustrated by this (I regularly am) or you can accept it and develop the fine art of waiting. Waiting for the hot water to boil on the stove so we can wash, waiting for the batteries to charge up so we can watch an episode of Doctor Who, or just waiting for the weather to improve so you can leave the caravan without getting soaked to the skin and covered in mud. I knew it was...

woodside stories: December 2014
http://woodsidestories.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 31 December 2014. I've never done a yarnalong. Mainly because it has taken me years. To learn how to knit and purl, and I'm still at the very start of following patterns. But I have decided that this year will be the year of KNIT and a weekly check in is a good way to keep the momentum going. The project is a set of fingerless gloves for my nephew. I am currently basking in knitted glory (auto text changed that sentence to "basking in kittens" which would also be nice.). Since living here, and...

woodside stories: August 2014
http://woodsidestories.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Friday, 1 August 2014. Beginning : the tourer. I posted a while back about the universe providing us with temporary accommodation. Well, the universe did, but only after we had been on a not-so-merry dance. After this we could not get a static no matter how hard we tried. We searched all of the obvious places.Ebay, Gumtree and the local free ads. Nothing. These statics were in hot demand and were therefor going for drastically inflated prices. So, the following weekend the purchase was made and we became...

woodside stories: More poultry
http://woodsidestories.blogspot.com/2015/02/more-poultry.html
Monday, 23 February 2015. It was my birthday recently. I was lucky enough to be given a selection of muscovy and khaki campbell ducks as well as two geese and a turkey. I actually planned to get more chickens, but that plan soon went awry. They came as a job lot from someone who was moving house, and I'm really pleased with how quickly they've settled. By Chris Ashton in the hope I will get to understand and therefore love them a little bit more, but so far all its done it convince me that our geese hate...

woodside stories: Today I lost a friend
http://woodsidestories.blogspot.com/2015/02/today-i-lost-friend.html
Saturday, 14 February 2015. Today I lost a friend. Out of the blue, but not unexpected I learnt today that a friend of mine had passed away. She was very poorly and knew herself that she didn't have much time left here. I know she didn't want to go, but she accepted her situation with a bravery that took my breath away. Before I learnt this news, I had been stressing about the million little jobs that we had to do before the digger comes to clear the site, and I was getting angry and frustrated.
