Thursday, 9 June 2016. It's been months, okay years, since there was a proper sewing or crafting post on here. This has been due to a total regime change in the Homespun household - yep, a child. One of these days now I'm going to get my act together and be able to balance parenting and sewing and working and wearing two shoes that actually match. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for that post though. 2 Everyone needs a reindeer. 3 Weddings and dresses. So then there was only the matter of the child's...

HomeSpun: Looking around

http://homespun-oxford.blogspot.com/2013/07/looking-around.html

Wednesday, 3 July 2013. My trusty swing-seat is weathering into the garden and providing me with the perfect spot for morning coffee, watching the light warm the colours, and seeing the bees climb inside the foxgloves. The irises to the left are over now, but the water-lilies are just about to begin. And so it goes on, quietly, thankfully, even if all we have the strength to do is watch. HomeSpun: December 2011

http://homespun-oxford.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, 3 December 2011. Stick a pin in it. I went to a free workshop at a newly refurbished venue in Oxford, the Old Fire Station, this week. Pinworks. Which runs workshops in all manner of sewing and knitting skills, were there creating a party atmosphere by teaching patchwork and knitting to all the late-night shoppers swigging back free glasses of fizz. This sounds like a story that shouldn't end well, but actually ended with a remarkably complete and straight-seamed patchwork pincushion:.

Saturday, 13 July 2013. When life gives you baby strawberries. You scoop them up with both hands (or more accurately, with one finger and one thumb because they're teeny and they squish easily). They are so sweet and delicious, but there are loads of them and a fair few of them were, losing their structural integrity, shall we say. What to do? I decided to try apple and strawberry muffins:. All very strange. Anyway, it can't be a bad thing when it does this to the clematis:. This paeony doesn't bloom for...

Monday, 17 January 2011. Christmas presents "hand-stitched with rage and tears". I made quite a few variations in different colours and styles, but my favourite were these snowflakes with a button centre. Just a little gift for my fellow Homespinner (the brains behind the operation) and hardcore fan of the wonderful Miranda. Television comedy. I confess I bought the apron intact, and am only responsible for decorating it with our favourite quoted phrase from the show. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Barney James, Dave and The Loris: December 2010

http://barneyjamesdaveandtheloris.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Barney James, Dave and The Loris. Holding a mirror up to the world. Or, the Three go in search of The Child Within. Tuesday, 14 December 2010. Messy mitts, broken bits and a face of infinite lux: a portrait of the Son of Man. Gave a lovely talk in church yesterday, starting by looking at Numbers 22-26. Aaron's blessing) which, he says, could be read as " The Lord Bless you and keep you, the Lord be gracious to you, the Lord be gracious to you, the Lord be gracious to you, and give you peace. Barney James, Dave and The Loris. Holding a mirror up to the world. Or, the Three go in search of The Child Within. Saturday, 26 January 2013. A little note from Barney James. It seems that the Loris has rather neglected her blogosphere this past twelvemonth for which she does apologize. Mind you, Dave. And I have also been rather lax in reminding her to write to you all and it is only now that I have just remembered again. Sorreee. Soooo, what have we all been up to? Barney James, Dave and The Loris. Holding a mirror up to the world. Or, the Three go in search of The Child Within. Thursday, 27 October 2011. Another month, another hospital stay. (October 2011). It seems that hardly a month passes without some medical drama (human, animal, major, minor or otherwise) impacting the life of the Loris. 2011 has not been a kind year thus far. Still, I was told that I'd have a high boost dose over one hour, then the rest over 23 hours. The plan then was that I would be c...

No, this is not about Grandpa George Bucket, Grandfather of Charlie Bucket*, but about my Maternal Grandfather who passed away after breakfast (although I think he slept through breakfast to be honest) this morning, 15th March 2013. A Homespun Life

Saturday, November 12, 2011. I actually finished something! The pants as pants. I've been working on a jumper for Cecilie for something like two months. When the zipper on my pants broke (a pair of pants that I was particularly fond of) I decided to convert them into an outfit for Ceci. I think they turned out pretty good.
