Homestead Revival

Sunday, July 26, 2015. So I created one. BTW as you scroll through the photos you need to know that editing them takes a ton of time. So in keeping with simplifying my life, I'm using my iPhone, making only a few minor adjustments so you can see what is in the photo (light v. dark; shadows removed), and that's about it. And that folks, is as good as it's going to get. :-). Don't you just love my folding chairs? I know. I'm quite the trend setter! And the light fixture? Part of our goal for selling the bi...

Homestead Revival: Understanding Companion Planting

http://homesteadrevival.blogspot.com/2014/12/understanding-companion-planting.html

Friday, December 5, 2014. From bacteria in yogurt making to the Amazon anywhere something grows there is an ecosystem. As homesteaders our goal is to cultivate the perfect ecosystem for plants and repelling the pests that would destroy it. Companion planting is more than not planting cabbage where you planted tomatoes. It is giving your garden a healthy environment from soil acidity to. What is Companion Planting? There are complicated charts and whole books about what should be planted where. Each p...

Homestead Revival: Barn Hop #35

http://homesteadrevival.blogspot.com/2011/11/barn-hop-35.html

Monday, November 7, 2011. This was a wonderful way for me to finish off one of the busiest months I've had in a long time. The November calendar has a lot more blank spaces on it and I'm very thankful. I want to spend some time seeking further what God wants me to do in terms of ministry. And it's exciting to see what He's doing in the lives of others as well! I left the "mostly sunny" beach and came home to patches of snow on the ground. Brrrr! Join The Barn Hop! Jill @ The Prairie Homestead. Please Not...

Homestead Revival: Homesteading Limitations

http://homesteadrevival.blogspot.com/2012/06/homesteading-limitations.html

Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Once again, the subject of "trying to do it all" has come up in our local homesteading group, as well as during a conversation with a couple of ladies at church this week. If you're over 18, you've probably already figured it out. there's no way one person can juggle all the balls at once. Like herding a bunch of baby goats, trying to line them all up at once (right! Just when you get one in place, two more are running off in two different. There are NO super women. Because we lov...

Adventures in Homesteading: Contentment in Frugal Living

http://dicefamilyhomesteading.blogspot.com/2012/01/contentment-in-frugal-living.html

Sunday, January 8, 2012. Contentment in Frugal Living. It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, who is poor." Lucius Annaeus Seneca. I am on a quest to live a frugal, self-sufficient lifestyle. I'm tired of living the rat-race life. I'm tired of the rampant materialism and consumerism and the discontentment that we, as Americans, are known for. Laurence Shames, in The Hunger for More. I'm taking part in the 23 Day Frugal Living Challenge. The answer is that we have too much.

http://creeksideparkers.blogspot.com/2013/05/farm.html

Any fool can know. The point is to understand. Tuesday, May 14, 2013. As my youthful years are slowly falling behind, I am reminded what I enjoyed about my youth and the memories now, that remind me of those days. I find myself looking for them again, I never thought I would. I have so many memories of my summers spent in Nebraska, on the farm. While I LOVED those summers, I never saw myself as a 'farm girl', no way, no how! My sister is the animal lover, not me. Jump ahead 25 years. I want a farm too!
