Monday, December 8, 2014. Thanksgiving and Hannahs Birthday Weekend. So, for the three of you who read this blog regularly, I thought I'd let you know about my 30th birthday weekend and our first Thanksgiving together (I was in Italy last year). Then as we were discussing the upcoming g holiday meal I said I thought we should have halibut since we still have so much from Alaska, and Nick responded with unexpected passion, "No. We have to have turkey, and stuffing, and." home sweet harvey: May 2014

http://www.homesweetharvey.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, May 24, 2014. So, we've owned Harvey for about two weeks now and we are up to our eyeballs in demo and renovation. Each time we think we are undertaking a simple task, it multiplies into a multi-step PROJECT, but we are making progress and we are so excited about what it will become: our home! Although we waffled a bit because of time constraints (hello 5 weeks! What we've done so far* (an incomplete list):. Cleaned out all of the random odds and ends that were inside. Re caulk tub/shower unit.

home sweet harvey: November 2014

http://www.homesweetharvey.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 16, 2014. Nick is working this weekend* and I miss him terribly, so I am going to write about all of the awesome adventures we've been having! His schedule is generally Fri-Sun, Mon off, Tues-Thurs, one week off. Because the drive each way is about an hour, that was a lot to do twice everyday on top of a 12 hour shift, so the days that he works, he just stays in Lincoln City. The hospital has a place (free! For him to stay, which is great, but I do miss him when he's gone.

Saturday, October 25, 2014. Updates and visit from Lincoln! Nick's brother Lincoln is visiting this weekend and they are fishing and mushroom hunting despite the crazy weather. His visit also prompted me to revisit the project of loft curtains! Unfortunately, in doing so I found some moisture around the large window which will have to be attended to sooner rather than later. Happy weekend y'all! Vintage pillowcase to extend the loft curtain without covering the doggie portraits! The last couple of weeks ...

Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Final" pictures are here. In parting, here's a list of observations we've made:. Doesn't look like anything has changed in years.about 400 years. Muted colors, void of decorations.except in alpine - colorful with attention to decorative details. Roads through villages were built after the advent of automobile = no wider than footpath in some places. People are still very connected to the soil. Lifestyle is much less stressful.slower. Loud - scooters everywhere. Much more moun...

the unencumbered life: July 2012

http://the-unencumbered-life.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 16, 2012. We slept in our new home for the first time Saturday night. It was a rainy night/morning and we didn’t have to trek across the soggy yard in our bathrobes and slippers. It is good to be home. No, we are not finished…but we’re close. Our first summer guests are expected later this week and the reds (sockeye salmon) have started running in the Kenai River. We need to finish the house so that we can turn our attention to both. And probably limit out on yearly permit as well!

Tuesday, December 2, 2014. Lleida to Madrid was about a six-hour drive and we had our sights on strolling through El Rastro, Madrid’s every Sunday open air flea market. Merchants fold up their tents and tables at 3:00 so we got an early start. Craggy hills to wide open plains. The Osborne bull: 46 ft high black silhouetted. Image of a bull. In semi-profile. Swatches of windmills. Towns with prominent domed churches. An army procession. Even a rainbow. Show Pam and I resisted. He won. Villa Rosa, ...

Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Have about half the halibut we want for our “quota”. Could halibut fish every day if conditions were right. Love the water, the peacefulness, the scenery, the time with my honey, the “hit” and reeling in. Having food for the freezer to share is a bonus. Took Stan (the camper) to pick up Hannah and Nick on Friday. Realized this is Hannah’s sixth visit to Alaska (! Ten times. And they have pictures to prove it. Awesome. Mary, Mary Quite Contrary. Tuesday, December 2, 2014. My plan was to “do” the Andalusian countryside, maybe take in Granada, Seville, and Cordoba. Cullera wasn’t on the original list. Neither was Cartagena or Carthage to those who know their Roman history. Greg saw it on the map and said he was interested so that was the direction we pointed the car. Mary, Mary Quite Contrary. Saturday, April 20, 2013. What a busy, full fall, winter, and spring it has been! We arrived back in the south in time for a good friend’s son’s wedding. Then made a trek. To TX to visit the folks. Greg and Dad went fishing…in the pictures. Those are all different. Fish We stopped in Little Rock, AR on the way home. I toured the Clinton Library and Greg tooled around in Heifer International’s Headquarters. Had a mini-reunion with some friends from UGA days. Where does 30 years go? Brags that I navigated ...

Monday, April 13, 2015. I randomly decided to look at the ol' blog today, and noticed the last time I posted was almost exactly a year ago today! So crazy, right? I guess that means its time for a new post. I still love decorating (and always. Stop at the home section at Target! I know that seems obvious, but I really sort of just lost my steam when it came to decorating. So I guess I'm taking a "time out" for a little while. And I love, love, love the table set up!
