Fabric, Food, Furry Friends, Freedom and our Footprint on a beautiful planet! Beer Waffles….who knew? Posted by Chanteuse Designs. Asymp; Leave a comment. Who knew you could use your leftover beer for waffles. (Does beer expire? I was looking for some fancy Belgium Waffles to make but realized I didn’t have the time to make this really buttery sugary Snooty concoction and then stumbled upon this. To have waffles give these a try. Thanks Sarah of the Sugar Hit! Here’s all you do:. 2 1/4 cups flour. You ar...

Designer Dishes: Banana oat muffins
http://designerdishes.blogspot.com/2012/09/banana-oat-muffins.html
Thursday, 6 September 2012. Sometimes, the need for something sweet just cannot be avoided. I try to side step it; dodge the craving for doughnuts, persuade myself that a juicy apple will satisfy my craving, but that only works for so long. 125g (gluten free) porridge oats. 140g low fat yoghurt/fromage frais. 1 banana, mashed. Preheat the oven to 200C and use a dab of oil to grease a muffin tin or silicon cupcake moulds. And springy to the touch. Serve plain or split with a little butter.

Designer Dishes: January 2012
http://designerdishes.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, 29 January 2012. Despite my love of food, I’m not actually that good at feeding myself. Feeding. Is no problem – easy peasy – but taking care of number one isn’t high on my list of priorities. I’m a rather busy lady but it’s taken me a while to grasp that I need to replace the calories that I’m working out of my system. It’s starting to dawn on me (after several oh-my-gosh-i-feel-faint moments – whoops! It’s just nuts and fruit…” so I threw caution to the wind. I ground up a...They can be a littl...

Designer Dishes: December 2011
http://designerdishes.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, 31 December 2011. Snapshot: Christmas is over. Into the bargain bin go the mince pies, brandy cream and fruit cake. No more brandy truffles or turkey until next year. But no need to be sad! You can stock up on Easter eggs instead. It's not even 2012 yet! Thursday, 15 December 2011. Takeaway's to save drunken Londoners. Their research shows that. A quarter of accidental house fires in the capital are caused by 18 to 35 year olds when attempting to cook at home when drunk. The Christmas season is...

Designer Dishes: Barbecued butterflied salmon
http://designerdishes.blogspot.com/2012/05/barbecued-butterflied-salmon.html
Friday, 18 May 2012. The Boy has always said "Never trust a thin chef" and he seems to follow a similar logic for bushmen. Since I got to know him, I know that I've been wrestling with a rather hefty draw for his affections. He totally loves Ray Mears. His logic is that Ray, with his generous waist line, is not simply surviving in the wilderness but properly living. After removing the fins and scoring around the head, he gently plied the bones away from the flesh and – voila! Slice just behind the gills;...

Designer Dishes: Broccoli & Feta Potato bake
http://designerdishes.blogspot.com/2012/06/broccoli-feta-potato-bake.html
Thursday, 21 June 2012. Broccoli and Feta Potato bake. What a grim day! What happened to (the increasingly lesser spotted) Summer season? I'm certain that I haven't slept through it because I'm definitely not that well rested. Regrettably. So it can be a super thrify meal too. I'm partial to a little ham or bacon thrown in but it's also delicious without if you're going meatless. Broccoli and Feta Potato bake. 300g new potatoes (or leftover cooked potatoes). 1 large head of broccoli. Preheat the oven to ...

Designer Dishes: November 2011
http://designerdishes.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 30 November 2011. Review: Cucina Rustica, Birmingham. Love was in the air and The Boy and I were searching for an impromptu late night meal on a journey up North. Our rendez-vous? Birmingham. Not the most inspiring of romantic settings, admittedly. It’s not exactly our home turf either so, as the train plodded its way from London to Brum, I frantically tapped away on Tripadvisor. Or so it seemed. I was keen to share a scallop starter involving parsnip mash, which I’d spied other diners e...
