We provide free intermediate education in our catch-up classes for children, aged 4-15 in Katanga Slum, whose parents can’t afford to send them to school. Our aim is to get these children, with mostly no previous formal education, to a standard where they are able to pass an entrance exam in a mainstream school. We then find people to partner with us in Sponsoring a Child. To these mainstream schools, for just 20 per month. Hope for Life Katanga, Uganda. UK Registered Charity No. 1153897.

The community of Katanga is located in Kampala, Uganda, 2 kilometers from the city centre and the slum has now existed for over 20 years. A recent (2008) census found that Katanga has slightly more than 3,000 make shift, temporary rooms that accommodate an average of 2 adults and 5 children. In Uganda, education is not free. On top of school fees, families must pay for their children's transport to and from school, uniforms, books, stationery and more. This is simply not feasible for many families in low income areas like Katanga. We are looking for sponsors to partner with us in giving these children an education that will transform their futures. It costs 20/month to send a child to a school within Kampala. Our volunteer staff will be sure to reply to you shortly. We respect your privacy.

Hope for Life is a ministry dedicated to serving street children in Kigali, Rwanda. We operate a children s home for twenty-four former street boys who have been neglected, abused, imprisoned, or orphaned. We also work with the families of each boy in our program and with local street children, promoting reconciliation and reintegration.
