Horse-Crazy Mom: September 2016

http://horse-crazymom.blogspot.com/2016_09_01_archive.html

You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore. - C. Columbus. Sunday, 4 September 2016. Making horse-related purchases brings on all the joys. The stars aligned and this happened this weekend! I needed to sell my old trailer to fund the new one and amazingly I sold it in just one day of advertising. NOT new, but. And definitely a step up from the Metal Beast I had. It needs a bit of work and some major cleanup inside, but I love it. I should go.I have a thing. Shiraz...

Horse-Crazy Mom: Shiraz

You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore. - C. Columbus. The baby I really shouldn't have bought- I am turning into the crazy horse lady now (similar to crazy cat ladies). She is Thoroughbred, Quarterhorse, Draft cross and a real sweetheart. AND.my last. Really. And here she is in 2016 as a 3-year-old:. She is people-loving, mostly level-headed and shows a real talent for jumping (i.e. jumping out of anywhere she decides not to be). Horse-Crazy Mom: December 2016

http://horse-crazymom.blogspot.com/2016_12_01_archive.html

You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore. - C. Columbus. Thursday, 29 December 2016. A kick-ass kind of Christmas. Warning* Gross pictures. If you are squeamish, don't look! I am not going to lie, 2016 has kicked my butt. However, I have maintained a level of (obliviously ignorant) optimism and still think 2017 is going to be all the best shit, farting rainbows the whole way through. But 2016 was not done with me. One final kick at the cat, so to speak. For thos...

Horse-Crazy Mom: June 2016

http://horse-crazymom.blogspot.com/2016_06_01_archive.html

You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore. - C. Columbus. Sunday, 26 June 2016. I often use cross rails in training a young horse. It is helpful in getting them accustomed to the feel of the saddle in big movements in a very green horse. It can be a useful trick in early canter work and is a fun change for a horse if you are working on fussy posture work. This feeling. 3. I have been missing jumping though and just wanted to try again. In my mind whatsoever!

Exploring Dressage Biomechanics: Resolutions & Goals 2017

http://exploringdressagebiomechanics.blogspot.com/2016/12/resolutions-goals-2017.html

Friday, December 30, 2016. Resolutions and Goals 2017. My other goal of getting my carbs under control has not been as successful. Don't get me wrong, I haven't gained weight, I'm right in the middle of normal BMI, and I am basically pretty healthy(knock on wood! The horse does seem a lot happier now while making some good progress. Anyway, since the crazy has to come out some way, here are my three resolutions for 2017:. 3) Whole 30 for 30 days in January and see if that helps me with my carb craving is...

Exploring Dressage Biomechanics: Horse Training Is a Lot Like Parenting

http://exploringdressagebiomechanics.blogspot.com/2015/12/horse-training-is-lot-like-parenting.html

Friday, December 18, 2015. Horse Training Is a Lot Like Parenting. December 18, 2015 at 8:51 AM. For me I am *still learning* the role of patience, being able to slow down and let small lessons absorb instead of the listen to me now! Mentality I used to have. If raising kids doesnt kill you, you definitely come out the other side with a whole new appreciation of the word patience. Also a big one is removing emotion from the equation, which is slowly getting easier for me! December 18, 2015 at 10:14 AM.

Exploring Dressage Biomechanics: There's Something About Mary...Wanless.

http://exploringdressagebiomechanics.blogspot.com/2014/06/theres-something-about-marywanless.html

Friday, June 6, 2014. Theres Something About Mary.Wanless. I am excited to have "eyes on the ground", even if it is by video consultation, and I encourage anyone struggling with improving their dressage riding to explore Mary Wanless via books, DVDs, and YouTube. She has so many interesting ideas about learning, horse training, and development of a good riding seat. February 9, 2016 at 8:00 AM. I put it on my tripod (took photography in undergrad) when I schooled. I could examine videos frame by frame, w...

Exploring Dressage Biomechanics: A Few Biomechanics Revelations

http://exploringdressagebiomechanics.blogspot.com/2016/12/a-few-biomechanics-revelations.html

Tuesday, December 6, 2016. A Few Biomechanics Revelations. A few things have come up in the last month that have been big biomechanics revelations for me. Some of these things are refinements of rider biomechanics concepts that I have been working on for a while but others appeared when watching video or doing a training ride. 1) The rider's leg is activated by squeezing the bum muscles on that side. 3) The rider's spine must have a gentle curve to have a truly following seat. Exploring Dressage Biomechanics: Facebook Groups for the Dressage Rider of a Certain Age

http://exploringdressagebiomechanics.blogspot.com/2016/01/facebook-groups-for-dressage-rider.html

Saturday, January 2, 2016. Facebook Groups for the Dressage Rider of a Certain Age. So, these are my three favorite Facebook dressage group pages. What are your favorite group pages or dressage riders you follow? January 2, 2016 at 4:38 PM. I have never heard of those groups but now am intrigued. I belong to only 3 groups on FB and neither are advice related, purely sale posts. English Tack Trader is my favorite and i am also part of Second Home OTTBs and Ohio horse and tack group. Exploring Dressage Biomechanics: Perception is Everything in the (non) Horse World

http://exploringdressagebiomechanics.blogspot.com/2016/10/perception-is-everything-in-non-horse.html

Monday, October 17, 2016. Perception is Everything in the (non) Horse World. I'm not much of one to court controversy in the horse world. I have my opinions, keep them (mostly! With the general move away from people living on farms and much more concern for animal welfare with things like free range meat and cage free eggs, are these governing bodies thinking at all about the long term future of horse sports? Who the he#€ thinks this is a good idea? Governing organizations seem to be more worried about k...

Exploring Dressage Biomechanics: All Aboard the Abscess Express

http://exploringdressagebiomechanics.blogspot.com/2015/06/all-aboard-abscess-express.html

Monday, June 29, 2015. All Aboard the Abscess Express. So, just last week in the land of unicorns and rainbows, I was having thoughts of videoing a training ride soon for evaluation and then videoing the Rider Test at a First Level in the next couple of weeks. The pony has been going well, all the principles from When 2 Spines Align have been really working for us, and several things I didn't like about our last version of RT@1st are much improved. Exploring Dressage Biomechanics: A Fun Little Exercise

http://exploringdressagebiomechanics.blogspot.com/2017/01/a-fun-little-exercise.html

Tuesday, January 10, 2017. A Fun Little Exercise. Per my New Year's resolutions, I have been watching more Dressage Naturally videos. There is a fun key words index on the DN site which links to various videos on any certain topic. I've mostly been sticking to videos that pertain to where we are right now, but decided to branch out to things in the future for educational purposes and found a gem that is very pertinent. Thank you so much for your review of my book and I am glad to hear you found it easy to read. December 10, 2015 at 6:13 AM. I really enjoyed the book Peter, and think that between the books, Facebook, and your website you are really adding to the body of easy to understand riding biomechanics. Emelie Claire,

Thursday, April 24, 2014. I really feel bad about taking SO long to make this announcement but it is finally happening and I am having mixed emotions about this whole thing.
