Horsemanship in Harmony

This is a chronicle of a journey. At its heart is my quest for a relationship with my horse. Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony. Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Horsemanship in Harmony: March 2012

http://www.horsemanshipinharmony.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

This is a chronicle of a journey. At its heart is my quest for a relationship with my horse. Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony. Thursday, March 15, 2012. I'm a little late in getting this posted but I had a simply fabulous weekend with Cricket. I managed to play both Saturday and Sunday and I am still pleased at how everything went. This is peaceful and meditative - mainly because you don't talk whilst grooming lest you end up with a mouthful of hair. I thre...

Horsemanship in Harmony: May 2012

This is a chronicle of a journey. At its heart is my quest for a relationship with my horse. Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony. Tuesday, May 15, 2012. So I'm slowly returning to reality after an amazing time at Super Camp. I was able to audit part of the camp last year but my nanny duties kept me from seeing a lot. I decided to sign up for the following year thinking it would be fun. I had no idea just what I was getting myself into. And Cricket was amazing ...

Horsemanship in Harmony: October 2011

This is a chronicle of a journey. At its heart is my quest for a relationship with my horse. Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony. Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Sometimes the Answer is NO. One of the important lessons I learned from my camp experience is that it's okay to say no. But wait, you say. Doesn't this contradict everything we've been told? The horse is always right. Don't make him feel wrong. Well, yes and no. So how does that relate to horsemanship?

Just another WordPress.com site. I was inspired to make these bags by the horse masks Native Americans made to decorate and empower their horses. Search on Song for the Horse Nation for more info. This bag is for my friend Laura Davis. This rope bag is for Barbara Volk, Barbara White Horse. Leave one →. August 15, 2012 3:13 pm. The bags are great. I Didn’t Forget | Moon Ponies Horsemanship

https://moonponies.wordpress.com/2014/12/15/i-didnt-forget

Just another WordPress.com site. I Didn’t Forget. December 15, 2014. I haven’t written much about Dancer lately because I stopped riding him. A year ago last August (August 2013) we had a little mishap and he bucked me off. It was my own fault. So I was working up to riding him again over last Winter and in the Spring, but he just would get sticky about moving forward and trotting, and I lacked the confidence to ride him through that. Thunder Moon | Moon Ponies Horsemanship

https://moonponies.wordpress.com/thunder-moon

Just another WordPress.com site. What can I say about Thunder. He was the best “first” horse a person could ask for. He came from a dismal situation as an “oldster”, and really adopted me and Bob. The grandkids fed him marshmallows, and he ferried them around. He volunteered at a Therapeutic Riding program, He suffered my ignorance as I took him through Parelli L1 and L2. He left for greener pastures in March of 2010, and his memory is treasured. The last picture is from 2008. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Challenge Updates | Moon Ponies Horsemanship

https://moonponies.wordpress.com/2015/05/29/challenge-updates

Just another WordPress.com site. May 29, 2015. I ended up abandoning both the 21 day challenge and the Northfield Farms challenge. Don’t be disappointed – I was stricken with a “wellness” and surrendered myself and my time to a home and life decluttering and an expansion of creative and artistic activities. After a long and productive weekend at Shalimar Farms with fellow students and Sarah Drew I am back on my horsemanship track as well. Had a wonderful ride with Augie this morning. Heather V. Baskey.

Three Parelli Partners: Dave Ellis/Part II

http://careermove.typepad.com/twohorsesandalady/2010/07/dave-ellispart-ii.html

Laquo; Perfect Practice with Dave Ellis. Trail Ride at Peterson Pits ». July 25, 2010. There are so many thoughts and breakthrough moments that occurred during the two days Dreamer and I recently spent at a Dave Ellis clinic. One of his discussions explained the power of Pat Parellis A Million Transitions. I must admit my thinking was linear, viewing transitions as walk-trot-canter-walk-whoa, etc. Expect a lot, accept a little, and reward often. Pictures taken by Bethany Caskey, caskeystudios.com. Augie (August Moon) | Moon Ponies Horsemanship

https://moonponies.wordpress.com/augie-august-moon

Just another WordPress.com site. Awesome weekend April 2012 when Augie shone and we had a lot of fun. I got Augie at an Amish auction in OH in 2008 when he was 2 years old. He is what they call a “draft crossbred”. I fantasize he’s a Shire Standardbred cross, but we don’t know. He can do all of Parelli L1 and L2 online, and lots of L3. Augie has pulled a sled and hauled a small tree down our driveway. We were well into L2 freestyle when I stopped riding him due to lameness. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

We take a broad view of horsemanship that encompasses care and philosophy, work and play, one that doesn't limit itself to horses - we also cover other equines and of course humans; after all we are the ones who are more able to change, experiment and develop. We are unashamed horse geeks and if you love to read, think and talk about horses, you're going to fit right in. Written by Ben Moxon. Energy Is Not Direction. In the fourth of our regular.
