Green Grass After the Rain! – Horses in Baja
http://horsesinbaja.com/2013/09/green-grass-after-the-rain
Green Grass After the Rain! September 19, 2013. All the rain and storms over the past few weeks soaked the desert, and now we’ve got a little surprise springing up all around us: Grass! The Desert turned green! It’s definitely a change from the tan tones of San Felipe desert! The horsies have been enjoying little walks out to nibble on the fresh green shoots as well! Green around our big, repurposed-tire hitching post! This entry was posted in San Felipe Equestrian Center. Loaded Up on Hay!
Getting the Horses Back Into Shape: Lunging! – Horses in Baja
http://horsesinbaja.com/2013/11/getting-the-horses-back-into-shape-lunging
Getting the Horses Back Into Shape: Lunging! November 16, 2013. The hot, humid days of summer, paired with all the time spent working on the barn, along with various trips meant that the horses got a bit of a summer break. However, now that the fall/winter season is here, Baja is blessed with cooler, sunny, fresh-yet-still-warm weather, that is perfect for riding days. Looking forward to hitting the trails soon! Check back again soon – we’ve got some exciting news coming up really soon!
Dealing With Flies at a Baja Barn – Horses in Baja
http://horsesinbaja.com/2013/09/dealing-with-flies-at-a-baja-barn
Dealing With Flies at a Baja Barn. September 27, 2013. September 19, 2013. Just like anywhere else, fly control is an aspect of horse-keeping in Baja. Depending on the weather and the day, flies can be almost non-existent, or can show up in droves (especially on the hottest days, they seem to like to find shelter in the shade around the horse shelters. Hmm.). Flies along the electric fence. Which works very well. We also hang baited bag fly traps around the paddock perimeters. They work pretty well!
Horse Buddies – Horses in Baja
http://horsesinbaja.com/2013/11/horse-buddies
November 24, 2013. April 29, 2016. Social creatures as they are, horses love the company of their buddies, and Lucky and Hallie are no different. We’ll often happen upon them in the paddock (or the hitching post) having a snuggle. So here are a few photos of the horsey BFFs:. After a ride, Hallie and Lucky have some nose-to-nose time. Moose and Diego play tug-a-war with ball. Hullo, how are you? Stay tuned, in the next couple of days the San Felipe Equestrian center will have a surprise for you!
