I was greeted at the door today by a staff member. When I told her I was there to see Mr. D. she said, “Good luck! She explained that he had been very focused today on getting ready for a trip and was very concerned about getting the details in order. She suggested that he might just need someone to talk to. I was continually hoping that I could get him redirected to another topic and help him ease out of this and into something else, but he was very very focused on his plan and could not be diverted.

I haven’t updated this page in awhile because the last few weeks when I have gone to visit with Mr. D. he has been asleep. In the meantime, I send him thoughts and prayers for good health, good spirits, and peaceful days to come. Thank you for following along with Mr. D. by way of this blog. When I arrived for my weekly visit with Mr. D. this morning he was lying in his bed with his eyes closed. As soon as I stepped into the room he opened them and said “Who is it? I introduced myself, as usual. And he said, “I know who you are.”. 8221; I replied. He said, “Yes, you were here a few days ago.”. It’s nice to start a visit being remembered. He handed me the funeral book and said, “You should look at this.” I spent a few moments looking through it, and commenting on the old photos of the two of them as young adults.
