WELCOME TO MY METAL NIGHTMARE! Thursday, January 27, 2011. Finally, I had to resort to some good 'Ol yankee ingenuity! Out comes the hole saw, and after sawing and picking rings out- the pistons finally come free! Got ahold of a 1966 motor and frame the other day. Evidently the host bike had been sitting out for a while! The pistons rings had rusted into the bores solid! I tried penetrating oil, brake fluid, heat, hammering, etc. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). WELCOME TO MY METAL NIGHTMARE! Monday, August 29, 2011. Here's the '79 Ironhead; finally finished. I finally went with a 70's FX style tank with a re-located petcock, Roadster bars, baffeled drags, oldschool air cleaner, chopped rear fender, custom tail-light made out of a round trailer light, plus a fine rattle-can hotrod black paint job! I call her VISCERAL, as she vibrates, rattles and clanks, makes a lot of noise, and is a beast to drive- I LOVE IT! I love what you did to the IronHead.

WELCOME TO MY METAL NIGHTMARE! Sunday, November 22, 2009. Hotrodding an old KZ750! Got busy this spring on a clapped-out KZ750 I got up north for 300! AND- Here's the AFTER: Built a new slip-On, Added GPZ Carburetors, Pods, Performance Shocks, Re-built the forks, Custom seat, Electrical work, and Spray-bomb Hot Rod Flat Black Lacquer! WELCOME TO MY METAL NIGHTMARE! Sunday, December 5, 2010. I always hated the hideous peanut tanks on a Sportster that is going to be cafe'd or built as a streetspecial, so I thought I'd modify a Yamaha Special tank for this '76 Sportster. Here's a few more ideas on how to make a XS650 special tank fit the bike, modifying it by taking 3" out of the center. In the next few days I'll post some cutting and welding pics! WELCOME TO MY METAL NIGHTMARE! Wednesday, July 27, 2016. Started tearing into the project again- Literally! Tracing wires to find out why the starter button won't work. Anti-Dive has to go! Take all the useless hoses, lines, etc. Cap it off with a silicone filled bottle cap! New Front End after rebuild. Went through it top to bottom. New brakes, seals, front headlight with custom fabbed stay. Used the Ol'Dependable "cafe" headlight ears from the interweb. Not a tight lever, and full stop at 3/4 lever.
