The Attachment Chronicles: a blog about special-needs adoption: March 2014

The Attachment Chronicles: a blog about special-needs adoption. My unvarnished story about adopting a boy who turned out to have autism. Saturday, March 29, 2014. Today we took Quinn to a sensory movie - a fantastic offering by AMC Theatres, where they show a movie once a month without previews, with the lights dim but not dark, and with the sound turned down to a reasonable volume. Will he hit a peak? Will he grow up to be someone who happens to have autism or someone who is defined by it? Check out thi...

Wednesday, July 24, 2013. The Tooth Fairy Came! She got a golden dollar! The Tooth Fairy responded to the note, too! Posted by Tony and Sue. Tuesday, July 23, 2013. She finally lost her first tooth! Problem is, she didn't realize she lost it until she felt it missing from her mouth. She has no idea WHERE she lost it so she had to leave a note for the Tooth Fairy explaining she lost her tooth and she was sorry. Posted by Tony and Sue. Saturday, July 13, 2013. She had a Ninja Turtle painted on her face!

The Attachment Chronicles: a blog about special-needs adoption. My unvarnished story about adopting a boy who turned out to have autism. Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Quinn is so very concrete. The whimsical and imaginary just makes no sense to him. Two sample conversations from the last couple of days:. Mama (singing): "Here comes Quinny cottontail.". Quinn: "Hey, I'm a boy! Mama: "You're not a bunny? Quinn (politely but emphatically): "No, thank you.". Quinn, what are you going to be when you grow up?

The Attachment Chronicles: a blog about special-needs adoption. My unvarnished story about adopting a boy who turned out to have autism. Saturday, September 15, 2012. Rules, rules, and more rules. I try to keep things positive with Quinn. Before we brought him home, we were lucky enough to have breakfast with awesome psychologist and author Dr. Kevin Leman. He lamented how he hears so many parents walking into Walmart while telling their kids, "You had better not act up! You better not touch anything!

Our China Journeys: April 2013
http://smithtigers.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 21, 2013. Today after church the Children's Ministry had Family Fun Day. For the little kids like ours they had a couple of inflatables this time, as well as trikes, balls, etc. for them to play with. This was Dawson's first time in any kind of inflatable so I tried to get a couple pictures of him having fun. He sure had a lot of fun! Hopefully this will allow them to burn off some energy and keep them from jumping on the couches! He kept sliding out on the entry/exit ramp. I can't believe ...

Our China Journeys: May 2013
http://smithtigers.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 30, 2013. Our trip home from Nashville went very smoothly. We saw a storm coming towards us as we were in St. Louis and we were hungry so we found a Cracker Barrel and got in there just as it was starting to rain. While we were ordering and waiting for our food, it started POURING! I'm very glad we were inside during that and not out driving! The rest of the trip home went well and we hit some nasty rain just south of Omaha but we made it home just fine. She had an absolute BLAST! Intersper...
