Pickling all these peppers we have. October 24, 2015. We’ve been busy pickling, roasting, and freezing all our peppers we grew this year. It should easily be enough to last us until next year. We did banana peppers, jalapenos, and seranos this time. Wearing gloves is a good idea cuz some of these peppers are hot! July 14, 2015. Yesterday we finally uncovered the tomatoes. As explained in this previous post. And everything looks great now! Hopefully we will have a good harvest this year. July 13, 2015.

It’s growing! | Hungry Peacock Farm

http://www.hungrypeacockfarm.com/2015/07/its-growing

July 8, 2015. Our last post was just a week or so ago, but wow, how things are really coming to life. I was looking at where we were this time last year and our plants really are looking great, bigger than last year. We did a lot of work on our soil and obviously this year we also have our wonderful plastic much which has been a complete game changer. As you can see things are looking great, in the next couple weeks we will take the covering off the tomatoes, how exciting! July 7, 2015. Uncovering the To...

All posts by Veronica Vigil. July 13, 2015. We started our strawberry patch last year with about 25 roots from Stark Brothers last fall. Here you can see that they are huge and doing very well. In the small pots outside the bed, I am trying to root the daughter plants so as to enlarge my patch for next year. Daughter and sister shoots. I collected well over 50 shoots to try and transplant. I know this is not the best time of the year to do this, but I dont have any place to store these till the fall.

Plastic Mulch Laying | Hungry Peacock Farm

http://www.hungrypeacockfarm.com/2015/05/plastic-mulch-laying

May 2, 2015. We bought a machine this year to hopefully offset the amount of hours we spend each week weeding. Its a Rain Flo 2400. We got a great deal on a slightly used one locally. It took a LOT of tweaking of all the various settings to get it to work properly. The soil consistency is a big part of it as well (which we learned the hard way). Getting the starts ready. Lawn work | Hungry Peacock Farm

http://www.hungrypeacockfarm.com/2014/04/lawn-work

April 28, 2014. Our front lawn was pretty much nonexistent when we moved in, and the back lawn needed some serious work as well. We ended up putting down some fairly cheap tractor supply seed (about $1/lb) and so far its coming up real well. The key was we needed to bring about 20 full tractor buckets of dirt into the front lawn area, as the soil was just not very good. We’re off to a good start at least. The backyard looks alright too. Hopefully it will keep filling in. No more free range chickens.

salad greens | Hungry Peacock Farm

http://www.hungrypeacockfarm.com/2014/06/salad-greens

June 17, 2014. Lettuce and greens are looking fantastic. We will be hard pressed to grow them for much longer now that it is 90F every day. We currently only have one raised bed full of greens, but its provided us with fresh salads every day for sometime now. We’re also testing out some heat tolerant varieties of Spinach to extend our growing season as well. A visitor dashed across the rows of chile. Cheese Making and First Produce. One thought on “salad greens”. July 8, 2014 at 6:38 am.
