Friends of the Hurtwood. The Ranger's life on The Hurtwood. February 16, 2013 by hurtwoodranger. The new tractor arrived on Friday and within hours was put to work clearing up fly tip on Winterfold and Farley Heath. Sadly I forgot to take any pictures of it before it got muddy! So fingers crossed, unlike our old tractor, it wont be forever breaking down, leaving me stranded in the middle of the Hurtwood, and consequently we wont be spending a small fortune getting it repaired. Richard III has been found!

A couple of things; forestry work has now started on Pitch Hill, so part of Walking Bottom car park will be closed off. This means we’ve lost 20-25 spaces, so please think about using one of the other car parks, and please don’t think about parking in the villages, but f you really need to park in the village, please show consideration for other road users. Unsanctioned Building On Holmbury Hill. | Redlands Trails
https://redlandstrails.wordpress.com/2010/04/13/unsanctioned-building-on-holmbury-hill
Unsanctioned Building On Holmbury Hill. Over the last couple of years many MTB riders local to Holmbury/Peaslake have been working very hard to paint us riders in a good light to the Hurtwood control. This culminated in the Hurtwood control taking a very open minded view of us and allowing sanctioned trailbuilding/maintenance. The most high profile and obvious advantage of this is that funding was obtained to rebuild the bottom section of the trail known as BarryKnowsBest. This is an incredibly selfish a...
Summer Lightning Tree Harvesting… | Redlands Trails
https://redlandstrails.wordpress.com/2011/03/09/summer-lightning-tree-harvesting
Summer Lightning Tree Harvesting…. Forestry has begun work on tree felling the first sections of forest that Summer Lightning runs through. So please be aware that this work is ongoing and to respect any cordons set up while this work continues. It does have to be said that Forestry Enterprise made no mention of this harvesting being carried out when we last spoke to them. Like the Daily Mash Motto: “It’s news to us.”. The tramway before fencing and rain. Originally uploaded by bent udder. Here’s a pic of the tramway before Forestry Commission contractors fenced off the area to the right of the trail, and before the last six weeks’ worth of torrential rain. This pic was taken back in early November, and you can see how dry the ground still is back then. Currently, it’s ankle-deep in mud. History | Redlands Trails
https://redlandstrails.wordpress.com/history
Why are you Redlands Trails when we’re not allowed to ride there? We formed Redlands Trails as a group to lobby for permission to be able to build in Redlands woods but refused permission by the Forestry Commission as landowner has specified that no recreation may take place in the woods. As a result of this the Forestry Commission made available the land near Coldharbour for us to build on where Summer Lightning now is and we never got round to changing the name. Began discussions with Surrey Hills AONB...
