6th International Conference on Water Resources and Environment Research, Water and Environmental Dynamics, Presentation in Koblenz, Germany. 8th International EnKF Workshop, Presentation in Steinsland, Norway. The HydroCast project was presented at the Danish Hydrology Day 2012. Which was held in Odense 24 October 2012. The theme of the day was environmental monitoring. The overall objective of the HydroCast project is to establish and test a general framework for hydrological forecasting and data assimilation that integrates different data sources with meteorological and hydrological modelling systems. The project will address the following key scientific challenges:. Integration of on-line measurements, radar rainfall forecasts, numerical weather prediction models, and hydrological models for short-range hydrological forecasting.

The work is organised in three work packages. Three test studies will be used as common test beds for testing and evaluating the developments in the three work packages:. Main expected project results include:. A methodology for combining radar rainfall estimation and forecasting, numerical weather prediction modelling, and hydrological modelling for short-range hydrological forecasting. A methodology for combining meteorological ensemble forecasts with hydrological models for seamless probabilistic hydrological forecasting, considering short-range, medium-range and seasonal forecasting. Three graduated PhD students and two completed Post Doc studies.
