Infrequent musings and general comments on life, from the perspective of a UK psychotherapist. Wednesday, 5 November 2014. Normal healthy men of the world - you still need to be enhanced. These machines are all over the place. It's a fair assumption that every man in the UK will see a machine, selling a product like this, at some point (when they have to pee). What I find especially disappointing about this example is that young men in particular are being given the messages:. Sex is about "performance".

Infrequent musings and general comments on life, from the perspective of a UK psychotherapist. Friday, 19 April 2013. A Prayer Poem (read at risk of being inspired). A lot has been going on in the world in the last days and weeks. It's a constant stream of sadness, anger, frustration, disappointment - you name it. A Twitter-correspondent recently noted that she found the newspaper she'd bought "thoroughly depressing". I guess we do live in a world that looks like that. Sometimes, Lord,. And the earth;.

Infrequent musings and general comments on life, from the perspective of a UK psychotherapist. Tuesday, 21 February 2012. DSM 5 - it's all medicalized now. One vocal critic of the DSM-5 bereavement issue is Allen Frances, MD. He has been blogging. For some time that the 'mission creep' of the DSM has slipped out of control. He speaks from experience, as a member of the task force that worked on DSM-IV. So, why the 'mission creep'? The idea that we could (or should) try to map all the ups and downs of the...

I work a lot with people who are dying, or their family members. Every so often,. Tony" quickly started talking about his background and his nostalgia for 'home' (Greece). I commented that many men of his age 'back home' would be sitting outside a cafe in the sunshine, smoking and drinking black tea, playing chequers or cards or. The basics explained, T...

It was the end of the session; one of those last-five-minutes that is an open space for anything to come in. The therapeutic work was done (? Infrequent musings and general comments on life, from the perspective of a UK psychotherapist. Tuesday, 27 March 2012. Something in the air. I was interested to read, after my cynical musings last time, that I'm not the only one to be asking who is making money from the DSM-5. Crazy thought it may sound, it seems that a large proportion of the DSM team have ties with drug companies. As they say - go figure. On a page called DSMSucks! There is even a link to a " new psychiatric disease generator. These da...
