Ian Bennell's Birding Blog. Giving you all my latest sightings no matter how dull they are! Friday, 30 May 2014. Devon - 24-29.5.14. The following day my son went and spent the day with his aunt who works on the park we were staying on so the 3 of us went for a wander up nearby Baggy Point. During the walk a few things were noted including a singing Lesser Whitethroat. And a single Stonechat. A quick count up totalled 12 birds 9 of them pale and 3 dark morph all with lovely spoon shaped tails. This w...

http://ianbennellsbirdingblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/from-sublime-to-ridiculous-4515.html

Ian Bennell's Birding Blog. Giving you all my latest sightings no matter how dull they are! Thursday, 14 May 2015. From The Sublime To The Ridiculous! Back in 2007 I needed 3 species of pipit to complete the set on the UK list. The Autumn of that year provided an opportunity to add both Pechora Pipit. In Wales and Buff-Bellied. In Oxon and Berks. Roll forward 8 years and I'd still not had a sniff at adding the last one of the set a Red-Throated Pipit. Between Robin Hood and Baslow! With a 3 hour home jou...

After the excitement of yesterdays lifer came a Watford RSPB coach trip to one of my favourite reserves up in Suffolk. The birding started before we had even arrived as I spotted a Stone Curlew. Ian Bennell's Birding Blog. Giving you all my latest sightings no matter how dull they are! Friday, 21 February 2014. In Cassiobury Park a single Lesser Redpoll. Flew over and Treecreeper. Creeped up a tree by the changing rooms before flying off. On the journey home a Sparrowhawk. Flew over Kings Langley or Kings Landing as its temporarily known as a plug for the TV show Game Of Thrones! Then as I sat on the sofa 2 Red Kite. Flew past the window. Watford - 18.2.14. Ian Bennell's Birding Blog: Looking A Little Roseier - 12.5.15

http://ianbennellsbirdingblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/looking-little-roseier-12515.html

Ian Bennell's Birding Blog. Giving you all my latest sightings no matter how dull they are! Thursday, 14 May 2015. Looking A Little Roseier - 12.5.15. Something's just been found at Amwell. I listened to Mike's voicemail to hear the words Roseate Tern. I quicklyphoned Carey and asked if she could put my dinner in the microwave as I may be some time! The M25 was being kind and so I was on site within 25 minutes. A brisk walk up to the viewpoint and there it was sat on the mud my first ever Roseate Tern.

randombirder: Walthamstow Reservoirs

http://therandombirder.blogspot.com/2015/08/walthamstow-reservoirs_13.html

Thursday, August 13, 2015. Arriving mid-afternoon on Lockwood as the first phase of storms had past, there was much optimism in connecting with something displaced as a result of the lively weather. Limited rewards were a single Lapwing. That had settled on the shoreline before taking off high before heading south. Three Common Sandpiper. Were down in number from previous days, and my first Green Sandpiper. On the northside, and a juvenile Greater Black Backed Gull. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

randombirder: August 2015

http://therandombirder.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, August 26, 2015. The rain of recent days has drawn in a deluge of migrants up and down the country with coastal areas faring well with some impressive numbers of passerines and passing seabirds. But for us city folk, there's stuff to find too and with a bit of luck, something like a Garganey. Not sure how I managed to miss the Spotted Flycatchers, but there was a single Gadwall. And around six Teal. There A flock of House Martin. Were feeding low over the hide complex. There were two Whinchat.

Friday, June 26, 2015. Melodious Warbler - Marsh Lane NR. It took me a while to get there, around three weeks actually which is around the length of time the Melodious Warbler. Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Marsh Warbler and Lakenheath. The weather is generally nice this time of year and now I can really make the most of my days off. The next target was the Marsh Warbler. At Narborough. This bird had been present for a few days, singing regularly and at times showing well, and only two hours from home. Lucky...

Thursday, May 28, 2015. Twitchfield Haven - Greater Yellowlegs. Sat with the hundreds of Black Headed Gull. On the islands and there were plenty of Avocet feeding on the shallow pools. Anyway - job done. Saturday, May 23, 2015. Suffolk - A Little Bitt of luck and a little Sandpiper. So thanks to mum, I had a car for the weekend, so we raced up to Suffolk for a day-out with plans to grab two newbies. Checking the news en route, we made headway up to Southwold parking by the harbour and then heading al...
