It's almost a month now since I arrived in France and I wanted to allow myself to feel the benefits of getting and the extra week to adjust to my new home in Aix-en-Provence. It didn't take me very long to start tallying up the amount of benefits I received but here is a few that I immediately noticed after a few days:. 2 Becoming a true Aixoise. or at least learning my way around town. 3 Aix-cursions (haha funny right? Part of the fun of being in a new place is doing new things. There was so many ne...

When it rains, it pours. If you didn't know, Aix is one of the sunniest towns in France, with rain only coming 60 days out of the year. Well today is one of those 60, and it also happens to be my "month-iversary" in France. (No gifts, please.) Cue depressed emotions about time going too fast and not being able to make it slow down.here. And one month later. hello my avid readers! I know all two of you have been anxiously refreshing my blog page, waiting for the next post. Well refresh no more!

L'Espagne et d'autres choses. Another European month has passed, and once again I'll try to summarize my experiences without reducing the events to a tourist's checklist. My mom's visit was my first thorough exploration of Aixois cuisine. Every night we enjoyed different and always delicious dining experiences, from Chez Leo in Place des Cardeurs to the famed Les Deux Garçons where once upon a time, Paul Cezanne dined with Emile Zola. Here's my first French poem:. Pirouette qui m’enveloppe dans un. Ah c&...

Oh wowow it's going to be October tomorrow- I've been here for a while. And during this while, I've been getting to know my host family pretty well. Actually, my host family is just host mom. Her name is Arlette. She is 60, but looks like she's 59! She has a boyfriend who comes on the weekends. He is bald now but he used to be a child hair model or something? He gave me his card. His name is Andre and he works in something that involves George Cloony but I can't remember what. Z,Q, and W all seem to be r...

It's been so long since i've written anything! But back to break. I started off the week in Barcelona and it was beautiful! I definitely want to go back at one point in my life; the city was majestic and the people were kind and open, which was refreshing in comparison to the french because they are more private people. The nightlife was absolutely magical, everyone was out and they were all so happy! Life here in Aix has been so busy as of late, hence the lack of blog posts, but I shall catch up! Also, ...

A Visit to the French Consulate in Chicago. A Visit to the French Consulate. Despite the tedious paperwork associated with studying abroad, I will be the first to admit that it aids tremendously in establishing peace of mind. For a student leaving the comforts of home, there is great satisfaction in knowing that all formalities are in order and that, you will surely be in good hands.
