Icelandic Horses of America

Icelandic Horses of America. Sunday, January 17, 2010. Icelandic Horse, Heavy Contact. The telltale bridle drop, and the mouthpiece of the bit peeking out of the mouth of the Icelandic Horse are hints that the hands are heavy and that there is too much contact on the reins. Too many times, the bit can be seen digging into the side of the mouth, possibly squeezing the tender cheek between the metal of the bit and the points of the teeth. Sunday, October 25, 2009. Charm, Icelandic Horse, Clipping Gone Bad.

IceHorses: January 2010

Saturday, January 9, 2010. Cubby, Icelandic Horse. Cubby is a 13 year old bay Icelandic gelding. He stands right around 14h. He is super smooth to ride. Cubby is very good for the farrier and hes very good strong hooves, and is going great barefoot. Trailers perfectly! Loads and un-loads like a dream. Cubby is however, a nervous horse so he wouldn't be suitable for children. He needs an experienced rider. Would be a great project! Asking $2500 all offers considered. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Icelandic Horse Connection News

Icelandic Horse Connection News. Sunday, January 17, 2010. Why Long-Shanked Bits on Icelandic Horses? Someone tell me WHY people use the long-shanked "icelandic" bit with a jointed mouthpiece, on Icelandic Horses? Are the horses so poorly trained that there is no way to control them but with pain? Or are the horses mentally unable to be trained to ride in union with their rider, like other horse breeds? And to combine the severe bit with the severe noseband. I just don't get it! Or l'art n'existe pas sans amour.
