House in Progress: About Us
http://www.houseinprogress.net/about.html
Welcome to our website! We started it to keep our friends and family up to date as we restore our house. But eventually it (like our house) has taken on a life of its own. While you're welcome to get the full story by reading our journal from the beginning. Here are a few other good places to start:. How we got here. The history of the house. How we inherited a bunch of stuff. Along with the house. How the website has become more popular. We've made with other people through the things we've found. Inter...

House in Progress Diary: Basement (Still) in Progress
http://www.houseinprogress.net/archives/001765.html
House in Progress Diary. Laquo; Previous Entry. Next Entry ». Basement (Still) in Progress. Our basement is still chugging along. In fact, we've made some great progress since our last update. Here are a few photos of where we're at. The subfloor was less of an aesthetic choice and more of a practical issue- our basement doesn't get a lot of water but you never know (we're near an area that did flood. In the past few years). Our plan is to put carpet tiles over the OSB- more on that in a future post.

House in Progress Diary: Dessert as a Metaphor for Life
http://www.houseinprogress.net/archives/001760.html
House in Progress Diary. Laquo; Previous Entry. Next Entry ». Dessert as a Metaphor for Life. Just like last year's holiday gingerbread project. Our little cookie house has become a metaphor for what is happening in our real house. Right now, the top floor and front of the first floor are toasty warm and lovely. But the back two rooms on the first floor? Since we are still smack dab in the middle of the porch. Big gaps in the walls. Freezing. Enter at your own risk. Laquo; Previous Entry.

House in Progress Diary: House Slacker Exhibit A
http://www.houseinprogress.net/archives/001717.html
House in Progress Diary. Laquo; Previous Entry. Next Entry ». House Slacker Exhibit A. This pretty much sums up the extent of my house-related work over the holidays. The roof caved in a few hours later. Just to add a touch of reality to it all. And then Godzilla-toddler began eating the trim right off of the house. Which was also very realistic. Soon, I expect the Chicago Department of Building Inspection to slap a big ol' Stop Work Order on my toaster oven. Hey, don't think it couldn't happen!

House in Progress Diary: Taunton + Savings = Mmmm.
http://www.houseinprogress.net/archives/001584.html
House in Progress Diary. Laquo; Previous Entry. Next Entry ». Taunton Savings = Mmmm. To say that I am a geeky fangirl when it comes to Taunton. Is putting it mildly. I have had daytime fantasies of showing up unannounced at their headquarters in Newtown, Connecticut (yeah, I see you Taunton. And I don't usually call out certain sales because that would require that I post more than once a day EVERYDAY because, whoa, do you know how many sales are out there for stuff? There is a fifty percent off sale.

House in Progress Diary: And Now for Something Completely Different
http://www.houseinprogress.net/archives/001744.html
House in Progress Diary. Laquo; Previous Entry. Next Entry ». And Now for Something Completely Different. Category: Before and After. As if we didn't have enough going on with the new back porch, new fence and the new basement stairwell, we have another project in the works: our basement. The basement has never been finished, so for the first time we actually have a clean slate to work with.albeit one that's always been packed with quite a bit of stuff:. So, what's the plan for the space? No realtor or d...

House in Progress Diary: Um, gee, 20th Century Fox, thanks?
http://www.houseinprogress.net/archives/001763.html
House in Progress Diary. Laquo; Previous Entry. Next Entry ». Um, gee, 20th Century Fox, thanks? Grace's new obsession is Alvin and the Chipmunks (sigh). I have to admit to a certain fondness for the Chipmunks when I was her age and begged my parents to play that crazy Christmas song. Over and over and over again. Now that I am a parent, I feel their pain. I'm talking about Dave's bungalow neighborhood. Luckily, I am not the only house voyeur. On the internet anymore, so Hooked on Houses. Search for more...

House in Progress Diary: Florian Kräutli » Magnetic Curtain
http://www.houseinprogress.net/archives/001764.html
House in Progress Diary. Laquo; Previous Entry. Next Entry ». Florian Kräutli Magnetic Curtain. Having lived with paper curtains for the last six years while the house has been under renovation, I think I should just embrace the crinkled look and get some of these. At least I could get cool points for it. Laquo; Previous Entry. Next Entry ». Posted by jeanne on March 1, 2010 at 9:10 PM. Search for more on 'magnetic curtain'. Search for 'magnetic curtain'. House in Progress Diary: Back Porch in Progress
http://www.houseinprogress.net/archives/001739.html
House in Progress Diary. Laquo; Previous Entry. Next Entry ». Back Porch in Progress. OK, after coming out of blogging hibernation with a teaser photo a few weeks back we'll go ahead and start sharing what we've been up to for the past nine months. It's a number of projects, so it will need to be broken up in to a few blog posts. To start with, the dumpster we rented was for a weekend project - we tore the old siding off our enclosed porch. No reason to wait - here's the money shot:. There in the left).

http://www.houseinprogress.net/archives/001761.html
House in Progress Diary. Laquo; Previous Entry. Next Entry ». Regular readers of the blog already know that I am a big, BIG fan. And that I have fantasies. Of baking them muffins and showing up at their headquarters as a ploy to get them to autograph my Sawzall in silvery ink. Yeah, I'm crushing bad.). Why are they so awesome? On the 'net to turn to for help and advice. Yeah, Fine Homebuilding is the gold standard in my opinion. They've reorganized their Remodeling content into one clean and sleek section.
