The Singing Farmwife: February 2015
http://themeadowview.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Singing in the Kitchen. Saturday, February 21, 2015. Snow Day on the Farm. Any snow over four inches deep means that the work on the farm is doubled. Today we have at least 14 inches and it's still snowing. First Joe opens the driveway so we can get out to feed the cows. Halfway through, he must stop to repair the four-wheeler. Then, Luke and I go down to the creek to knock open a water hole for thirsty. While he's doing that, his wife entertains herself in the truck taking selfies. Links to this post.

The Singing Farmwife: MY HOPE CLOSET

Singing in the Kitchen. Friday, March 6, 2015. Sometimes, he wakes up before I do and I can hear him puttering around downstairs. First I hear the clink and scoop of coffee being made, then I hear the rattle of the dishwasher being loaded or unloaded. When I finally make it downstairs, the kitchen often looks better than I left it. Here's a picture of it. Ginny Neil, The Singing Farmwife. March 6, 2015 at 11:28 AM. Yep, we have several.a drawer, a pantry basket, a basement, and several sheds! When we bui...

Singing in the Garden. Singing in the Kitchen. How I Got Here. Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Please Don't Burp on My Porch. She doesn't. The doe waits patiently on the other side, ears and tail flicking, as her baby runs up and. Down the barrier until it finds a hole big enough to wiggle through. Then the two of them bound through the blowing swells of grass until they are hidden from my sight. Deer that are standing or on the run are the norm. The doe shifted around, ears still on alert. Then I saw her re...

Sunday, September 30, 2012. Thoughts and Musings - Wisdom of Death. Wisdom of death -. Toby D. Sanders. There is a fate worse than death: We call it regret. Regret fuels grief's hellish fire. It corrupts the power and righteousness of mourning. It steals the relief of true joy. Live now. Love now. Forgive now. Speak it, now. Know and be known. Tell and live the truth. Sincerely, passionately, courageously. Dance, right now. Leap to do it. Do it Sweetly, funkily-even if you make a mess-. Know and be known.

Friday, November 29, 2013. This year while I still didn't remember until we'd sat down, said grace and she started I was ready nonetheless . A list of things came rolling off my tongue that shocked even me - the person expressing the list. 1- A job (I remember even if you don't that I was a year unemployed- or as I prefer to say. Practicing for my retirement! 2- A successful cross state move. 3- Passing my nine-month.probation. 4- A very positive review of my work and contribution to the company. When sh...

Wednesday, December 18, 2013. Wiser on Wednesdays - Calvin and Hobbes on Santa Claus. This whole Santa Claus thing just doesn't make sense. Why all the secrecy? Why all the mystery? If the guy exists why doesn't he ever show himself and prove it? And if he doesn't exist what's the meaning of all this? I dunno. Isn't this a religious holiday? Yeah, but actually, I've got the same questions about God.” - Bill Watterson. Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Wiser on Wednesdays - 15 Quotes of Nelson Mandela. 7) "Ev...

Time out of a busy parish ministry to reflect on life. Saturday, 25 July 2015. Matthew 10:5-9 (The Message). Jesus sent his twelve harvest hands out with this charge:. Don't think you have to put on a fund-raising campaign before you start. At the end of this month, I will celebrate the 20th anniversary of my Ordination to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament. I have served those years in Health Care Chaplaincy, in rural ministry and in urban ministry. And now, a new challenge beckons. Since I first shared...

singing farmwife: March 2015

Singing in the Garden. Singing in the Kitchen. How I Got Here. Friday, March 27, 2015. Next, I lock the lambs into the woodshed. Two lambs live there because their mamas in the big fields won't claim them. One doesn't have enough milk for two lambs; the other is just plain mean. Who knows why she rejected this lamb and loved the other? So, locking and bolting have a different meaning here in the mountains. Locking and bolting mean that I keep my animals safe and don’t worry so much about myself. Sometime...

Time out of a busy parish ministry to reflect on life. Thursday, 23 April 2015. Being pulled up gently. Like a tender sapling. Claiming its own space. Before being replanted lovingly elsewhere. To bloom and to grow. Knowing the nourishment of good soil. Of caring and competent hands. Being ripped out of the earth. From a place of deep longing. With no way back. Uprooting comes in many ways. For some an every day occurrence. Accepted as a part of existence. For others, a fiercely resisted intrusion. Or an...
