Hoy vamos hacía Taranaki, de camino visitando la granja de la familia Alexander, dónde se rodaron las escenas de la Tierra-Media en El Señor de los Anillos. Nuevamente nos espera un día pasado por agua, así que optamos por dejar para otra ocasión la ruta circular al lago Tikatapu (blue lake) , ponemos rumbo a Matamata. Ahí realizamos el tour guiado de Hobbiton. Ambientado i-site el de Matamata. Aquí un vídeo de la llegada de Gandalf a Hobbiton. Nos teletransportamos a la tierra media. Esta la de Sam Sagaz.

2013/04/23 Ben Lomond (1.748m) y Queenstown (NZ). Pasamos la noche en el Twelve Mile Delta campsite. El plan para hoy incluye el ascenso al Ben Lomond (1.748m). El punto de partida está en la rotonda de salida que hay en la localidad hacía Glenorchy, ahí hay un aparcamiento donde podremos dejar el vehículo. Hacemos un primer descenso desde Similaunhütte (3.019m) para evitar un incómodo flanqueo llegando hasta los 2.900m, ahí ponemos las pieles adentrándonos en el valle que se abre hacía el Oeste. Tras un breve descenso comienza la primera subida. Las huellas no ofrecen duda. Zoom sobre el Similaun. Luchamos contra el viento. Que está muy próximo.

Queríamos pernoctar en Martin Busch Hütte, pero no pudimos reservar (nos enteramos a posteriori que no aceptan reservas, sino que asignan plazas según llega la gente).
