Leaving Tuolumne Meadows: The Water Chapter « i heart trail

https://ihearttrail.wordpress.com/2013/06/30/leaving-tuolumne-meadows-the-water-chapter

8230;A Pacific Crest Trail Tale 2013. Leaving Tuolumne Meadows: The Water Chapter. By i heart trail. Tuolumne Meadows is a lot of fun; compact, full service, and near a nice campground. There is a great little Store at which to resupply, and the staff at the Post Office are really cool and friendly. The hike out was immediately beautiful and pleasant, like scenery from a fairy tale. Rivers flowing over granite rock. Meadows, forrests, WATERFALLS! On our second night, we built a little campfire as the sun...

Katherine’s is 17lbs and change. Meaning the weight of everything carried minus water, food, and fuel. Below, our complete list of gear. An asterisk indicates we already owned it prior to PCT prepping…. Kelty Grand Mesa 2 Backpacking 2 Person Tent. Kelty Grand Mesa 2 Tent Footprint. Red Plastic Fork and Knife.

8230;A Pacific Crest Trail Tale 2013. Here’s what we’ve got on the menu:. Idahoan Mashed Potatoes…Yum! Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP). Powered Sauce and Soup mixes. Rice Crispy Treats (Katherine’s obsessed). To stock up on food for the trail, we’ll be stopping at several resupply towns. Along the journey — many of which have full grocery stores where we’ll be able to buy what we need. We’ll be mailing ourselves 48.5 days worth of food. That’s 145.5 meals per person. 8230;A Pacific Crest Trail Tale 2013. Newer posts →. As first-time long-distance hikers, the most difficult part of planning has been trying to anticipate what our needs will be on the trail. We simply have no idea how much food we’ll end up wanting, how much water, what pieces of gear we’ll ultimately use. The best we can do is research what other hikers have done, and make educated guesses. Harmony House dehydrated veggies. Paul repackaging his beloved Spam. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).

We like to treat our water. Luckily, we don’t have to struggle over a water pump or deal with the foul taste of iodine tablets either. We have the Sawyer 3-Way Inline Filter,. And it’s almost as easy as dipping our bottle into the river and drinking away….Almost. Here’s how we treat our water:. Now we always...

A trail name is a name that most hikers go by out on the trail. It allows a person to be what they want to be while hiking. There is usually only 1 or 2 people with the same trail name at any one time. April 24, 2013 at 5:37 AM. Shannon Cunnin...

The HikingFools on the PCT. We don't quit hiking because we grow old, we grow old because we quit hiking. What is the PCT? Angel the Camp Dog. Saturday, October 5, 2013. Summer of Trail Magic.and the Final Post. We don't know the area well, and the Subway Cave campground was too civilized for our tastes ($16.00/day was a little steep). All Day I Dream About Trades

All Day I Dream About Trades. Saturday, May 21, 2016. Been a LONG time since I last posted - let's see how I finished in leagues gone by and where I am now in current leagues. In basketball, I won the whole friggen leag. James Harden and LeBron James were clutch late, and I beat my Dad for the championship. that was cool. In hockey, I fell out in the quarterfinals. I traded too much good stuff away and then oof.sad ending. In football, things went okay. Show us your tds. Saturday, November 21, 2015.

Trains at Night | William Gill

The trains at night project is a combination of my interest in photographing the industrial, built environment and capturing movement at night. The experience of a train passing at night is captivating, with most of the landscape dark, my senses focus on the enormous river of iron rolling though the scene. Using flashes to selectively light elements within a scene allows me to capture and share this dramatic experience. Flash photography process: illuminating trains at night.
