71 Toes: savoring the golden moments
http://www.71toes.com/2015/05/savoring-golden-moments.html
Monday, May 4, 2015. Savoring the golden moments. I've had a few consolation emails comforting me about Max leaving since I mentioned I was worried that we haven't taught him enough. And I just have to say thank you. In pondering over my worries, I think I'm not so worried about him. He'll do fine. Will he fall flat on his face a couple times? Sure But that's ok because failing miserably here and there and learning from that is what life is all about right? Why didn't he go out more on the weekends?

71 Toes: why "71 Toes"
http://www.71toes.com/p/why-71-toes.html
Our daughter Lucy was born with six toes on one foot. So for a while we had 71 of them all together. To read more about her diagnosis and how it turned our world upside-down, read here. To read about the eventual removal of that extra toe, read here. Although our journey has certainly been a refiners fire, I would never trade it. It has made our children glow with compassion. It has made my husband and I so much more deliberate and aware.and thankful. For even the little things. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

71 Toes: photography F.A.Q.
http://www.71toes.com/p/photography-faq.html
Photography F.A.Q. Please tell me exactly what camera equipment you use. My camera is a Canon 5D Mark II. (You can read all about how I agonized over switching from Nikon to Canon here. The lens that rarely comes off my camera is a 24-70mm 2.8, but I do have a telephoto lens that I pull out for sports and recitals (70-300mm 1:4-5.6), and a 55mm 1.4 fixed lens I should probably pull out more for portraits. I want to upgrade my camera so that I can get great pictures. What would you recommend? Yes It took ...

71 Toes: my 2015 "word"
http://www.71toes.com/2015/02/my-2015-word.html
Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Dang it, I wanted to write about this a long time ago because it came to me so easy this year, but I guess I was too busy doing. It to actually write about it before now, and I guess that's what it's all about, right? So here we go. It was easy-peasy to think of what I wanted my new "word" to be for this year. Can't believe we did that and what a precious gift that time was and always will be for our family. But in the wake of all that swirl of motion (and E-. I enjoyed our ho...

71 Toes: morning light
http://www.71toes.com/2014/11/morning-light.html
Monday, November 3, 2014. The very best time to see Angkor Wat in Cambodia is at sunrise. You get there from your hotel in tuk tuks and the air feels light and cool compared to it’s intense weight during the day. You sit and watch, and watch, and watch in awe as the sun gradually lights up the horizon behind the temple. Then you walk inside. And stop at the entrance where the light is streaming in so beautifully that you have no choice but to stop to try to capture it. When it starts to get hot as blazes...

71 Toes: a birthday hike to remember
http://www.71toes.com/2015/02/a-birthday-hike-to-remember.html
Friday, February 20, 2015. A birthday hike to remember. A couple weeks ago I had a birthday. I love that my birthday is smooshed right in there after Claire's (back here. So we can have a little hoopla to shadow over the fact I'm getting older :). I've been wanting to hike at a place called "Flat Iron" for forever and a day. It's the tippy top of that huge cliff you see down there in the picture below. And that picture was taken part-way up so you can imagine what a hike it is. We had. It took over t...

A Legacy of Love: Savannah's Baptism
http://twolittlereasons.blogspot.com/2015/03/savannahs-baptism.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Savannah was just glowing on her baptism day! She was so excited, and so happy! I can't believe how grown up she looks! It was so cute! You could feel the spirit so strongly in that room, I know it was the right thing and done at the right time. We had lots of family and friends who came. We are so grateful to everyone who came to support Savannah on her decision to be baptized. It was so much fun to see everyone that we hadn't seen in a while! Savannah and grandma Jensen! Strawb...
