Also, at the mastectomy time Kaiser told me they couldn’t coordinate the schedules of the plastic surgeon with the mastectomy surgeon. I get that. However, again, if I had it to do over I would insist on the scheduling so I’d just have one surgery. Filed under breast cancer. Guess I’ve been having too much fun to blog. At least it's a "good" cancer: February 2011
http://goodcancer.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
At least it's a "good" cancer. Tuesday, February 22, 2011. Cancer is a frustrating, awful experience. In a world in which we all strive to be safe (airbags? So perhaps it's no wonder that so many people seem to channel their fears and frustrations into fury- at the doctors, the drug companies, and the researchers who are trying frantically to come up with new and better weapons in the fight against cancer. A couple of weeks ago, I noted with interest the New York Times story about lymph node treatment.
At least it's a "good" cancer: What's really important at Christmastime
http://goodcancer.blogspot.com/2010/12/whats-really-important-at-christmastime.html
At least it's a "good" cancer. Tuesday, December 14, 2010. What's really important at Christmastime. This is so beautifully said. It's a short piece by a Salon writer whose mother has terminal lung cancer, talking about the nature of love (versus commerce) and how Christmas brings out the sweet and the sorrowful. Brought tears to my eyes, and a profound recognition of truth. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Your Breast Cancer Blogger Today is. View my complete profile. Aboutcom Breast Cancer Site.
The Road Bump: Adventures in Couch World
http://theroadbump.blogspot.com/2007/08/adventures-in-couch-world.html
On April 3, 2007, I heard the dreaded words "you have cancer.". Tuesday, August 28, 2007. Adventures in Couch World. My parents and my friend Claudia left this morning and the house is very quiet but I am by no means alone. I have Shandy the Wonder Dog. And God gave me a big ol' hola this morning. Said "Told you I'd get you through this. You're almost done. And I have more surprises in store for you. Good ones." So there's that. Always something to ponder in Couch World. What's next? I LOVE this blog!
The Road Bump: May 2007
http://theroadbump.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
On April 3, 2007, I heard the dreaded words "you have cancer.". Thursday, May 31, 2007. Hair today, gone tomorrow. My hair is gone! Last night was the great Hair Removal exercise. Surrounded by loving friends (including Claudia who flew in from NY to be a part of it), I bravely succumbed to the scissors and clippers and now feel somewhat like a monk. Or look like a monk. I have chemo appointment #2 this afternoon. I believe it will be just as easy as the first one. Monday, May 28, 2007. Get on it, girl!

At least it's a "good" cancer: _________ gave me cancer
http://goodcancer.blogspot.com/2010/07/gave-me-cancer.html
At least it's a "good" cancer. Friday, July 30, 2010. I've heard plenty of theories- many quite nutty- about what causes breast cancer. Obviously, we don't really know. For some reason, the incidence is much higher among women in my demographic- upper middle class, no pregnancies, history of birth control use, and whatever other lurking dangers are created by a privileged, professional lifestyle. I may not have lived in Marin County. But I seem like a model Marin case. Heating food in plastic containers.

At least it's a "good" cancer. Friday, August 06, 2010. What to do when diagnosed. No time for me to comment, but I just re-found a very useful CNN article on what to do when you're diagnosed with cancer. Brief and to the point. Links to this post. Wednesday, August 04, 2010. The new dangers of fructose. Yesterday, I read an article. Less so. Of course, high-fructose corn syrup was mentioned: because it so permeates industrial food production, could it be accelerating cancers? Links to this post. In the ...

At least it's a "good" cancer: I'm done with Komen
http://goodcancer.blogspot.com/2012/02/im-done-with-komen.html
At least it's a "good" cancer. Wednesday, February 01, 2012. I'm done with Komen. No more Komen walks, Komen donations, or Komen-related advocacy for me. You may love or hate Planned Parenthood, but we can all agree that breast cancer screening and services are good, right? That's the PP program whose Komen funding was halted. Ideology doesn't help women with breast cancer. Science, research, screening, treatment, and funding. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Your Breast Cancer Blogger Today is. Big G...

Imagine Bright Futures II. May 14, 2012 · 8:15 am. Post-mastectomy breast reconstruction: Surgery #4. Just wanted to say that the argument for a mastectomy because of easier reconstruction is faulty. If I had it to do over again I would have gone for chemo, which hopefully would have shrunk the invasive tumor and then a lumpectomy to get out the remaining DCIS. However, the mastectomy was what was right for me at the time. Wow, was that really 5 years ago? Filed under breast cancer. January 22, 2010 &mid...
