Thoughts on the Next Generation Network built by the community for the big society. Monday, 9 January 2012. 160;Much as I agree with many of B4RNs goals, I do have some serious concerns about the project - one in which the innocent public is being asked to plough a lot of money (£1.5m). My concerns about B4RN are:. 1 there isnt enough detail supporting the published business plan. 2 the proposed telephony service is a white elephant. 3 the project has single-points-of-failure. 4 the finances dont add up.

Thoughts on the Next Generation Network built by the community for the big society. Monday, 30 January 2012. This is a big issue for us all. Rich Kulawiec wrote an excellent position piece on the NANOG mailing list. Which summarises the problem thus:. Sometimes the world changes, and sometimes when it does, it's time to. Discard outdated philosophy that no longer applies to current reality -. Because stubborn attempts to hang onto it at all costs, especially by. Framework, really DO cost, often dearly.

Thoughts on the Next Generation Network built by the community for the big society. Sunday, 10 June 2012. BT Fibre To The Cabinet. Perhaps it would be more accurate if BTs sign said Fibre broadband stops. Ironically theres a Virgin Media cabinet around the corner which has been fiber fed and delivering broadband for years, so its not even as if there is anything new here. WiredCounty: BT's Twisted Reality
http://wiredcounty.blogspot.com/2013/04/bts-twisted-reality.html
Thoughts on the Next Generation Network built by the community for the big society. Monday, 8 April 2013. An article in today's Telegraph. Reports on comments made by BT's chief Ian Livingston in response to calls by TalkTalk for more regulation on BT's broadband roll-out. Interestingly, whilst the Torygraph is happy to promote BT's side of the argument, the original call for regulation by TalkTalk went unreported in the paper. Livingston's response was to characterise TalkTalk as "copper Luddites" addin...

Thoughts on the Next Generation Network built by the community for the big society. Thursday, 29 March 2012. Fibre-Only Exchanges - the ultimate BT lock-in. The Crown and Tuns, Deddington. That Deddington in Oxforshire will be the first exchange in the UK to be "fibre only". This means that all the services from the exchange will be connected on fibre. Other providers followed suit and BT eventually responded with its ADSL2 "21CN" service. A fine example of competition increasing service choice (and ...

Thoughts on the Next Generation Network built by the community for the big society. Friday, 23 March 2012. Last week Surrey County Council sent out an update on their plans for spending their BDUK grant. I was struck by how unambitious their goals are, despite previous promises that we were to get the best broadband in Europe. I would suggest you read the newsletter on their website. But it hasnt been uploaded yet - not a good sign that they are in tune with the Internet age. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
