I blog therefore I.am? Friday, August 31, 2012. Thanks to the Guardian. S Secret Teacher. His/her skewering of the language that has infected education is so perfect, I can only link to it in homage. Please read this; it will even make you laugh. In a conversation last term with my head of faculty I expressed concern that despite the talk of being world-class, the AfL. mcg Connect-Ed: March 2009
http://itmastersclass.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2009. The shear amount of content I've stollen from other people off the internet is simply staggering. 250 Gigs wasn't enough to hold all the movies, images and endless lists of songs. 250 GB turned into 750 GB with the purchase of a 500 GB HD, then a 1 TB HD to back it all up. The quantities of zeros and ones. The storage space it required became increasingly less of an issue as hard drives just kept getting cheaper and cheaper. Most of them I'm guessing don't want to work for nothing.

mcg Connect-Ed: Teachers ensuring Good Learning
http://itmastersclass.blogspot.com/2009/12/teachers-ensuring-good-learning.html
Tuesday, December 8, 2009. Teachers ensuring Good Learning. I see this as the course's BIG question. How can teachers in today's schools ensure that good learning is happening in the classroom. However, while technology tightens its grip on the keys to learning, it in-and-of itself is not the answer. Now while I cannot claim even double digit tenyer in the profession, there are some old addages that work in the classroom just as well as they do in the lunch room, or the family room, or the bar. Not all s...

mcg Connect-Ed: Start of the Digital Lab
http://itmastersclass.blogspot.com/2010/02/start-of-digital-lab.html
Monday, February 15, 2010. Start of the Digital Lab. The digital science lab. Seventh Grade Science has begun the second semester with a four week mini unit titled Soil and Rice: How to Feed a Hungry Planet. The focus of the unit is to explore the issues of global equity and access to food, and the role that science plays in developing ways to grow more food on a finite amount of land. By taking digital pictures of the materials, the lab set up, and the rice growth observations, students were able to doc...

mcg Connect-Ed: Rice Growth Day 9
http://itmastersclass.blogspot.com/2010/02/rice-growth-day-9.html
Thursday, February 18, 2010. Rice Growth Day 9. At this stage of the science lab, students have taken photographs of the first several days of rice germination, and they been able to witness which of the two samples of rice seeds has shown more growth: the test pot or the control pot. In most cases, and particularly at this early stage, the results were varied, and still inconclusive. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I found the Kevin Kelly post about screen literacy fascinating and little optimistic&...

Thursday, February 25, 2010. Rice Growth: Day 12. When the date was set to upload the images, the number of groups that arrived without their USB cables or had ran out of battery life on their camera grounded the day’s activity to a screeching halt. The class time was used instead to better develop the script and search the internet for appropriate photographs to include in the introduction and conclusion. The following check list was developed as a way to keep students on track. Rice Growth Day 9. Anoth...

mcg Connect-Ed: November 2009
http://itmastersclass.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 11, 2009. To 'A Healthy Tech Community'. When I first considered the question of ensuring that all outcomes and benchmarks of technology were covered at ISB, my immediate instinct was that the Curriculum Office needs to oversee the process. It is clear that ISB values these skills and characteristics- faculty meetings, in-service specialists, Maggie Moon, Synergy in the middle school; measures are taken to ensure that all of our kids get the right kind of exposure. We arrived at the i...

mcg Connect-Ed: Peripheral Blog
http://itmastersclass.blogspot.com/2009/12/peripheral-blog.html
Thursday, December 10, 2009. This litterally is a peripheral blog -I almost missed this last assignment! I am very excited to use some of the extra tech toys in next year's newly designed Rice Unit. Particularly the Flip Cam. It is really so easy to use, and so simple to incorporate into some many types of files and applications. I will definintely take my own advice on this when building the documents and lessons for my final assessment. Thanks, Matt. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I found the Kevi...
