Exploring The "Wild" Places of Southern IN. First of the Year! The Monarchs are returning! After a tip from a refuge staffer, a friend and I headed out to the Columbia Mine area yesterday evening. The amount of Milkweed coming up out there is amazing! They smell fantastic, and the amount of butterflies, bees, an other bugs nectaring on the flowers is pretty amazing. I didn't see any caterpillars yet, but they shouldn't be far behind! There's always something to see out there; glad you got to visit!
