The days are cooler and the afternoons interspersed with rain with was a welcome relief from the heat. The spectacular views and winding roads are breathtaking. An adventure to enlighten the soul and widen the mind. Kerala's backwaters, a placid place in which to while away a few hour afloat in a traditional canoe. Setting off up one of the many small, man made canals. The low bridges, this 18km Island within the backwaters is a rich source of building sand, making the people harvesting the sand rich but causing a myriad of these low bridges. A typical scene along the way. The locals also farm shrimp, constantly draining them to remove the shrimp.

Goa is pretty much filled up with westerners and in a way it was quite nice after two months round the south of india where we'd quite often go 3-4 days without seeing a white person.
