A place to share my thoughts on Indie games for the Xbox. Thursday, January 20, 2011. 004 PLATFORMANCE: Castle Pain. Here’s a real gem of a game! Platformance: Castle Pain revels in how old school and punishing it is. See it’s deceivingly simple, and honestly the easier difficulties don’t prove to be much of a challenge at all. But once you crank up the difficulty, it becomes a gauntlet of countless deaths and infinite frustration. And it’s glorious. PLATFORMACE: Castle Pain is owned by Magiko Gaming.

I really want to open with "this game is garbage", because as much as I really hate this game, it's not technically garbage. Pointless, not great. but not garbage. The main problem is that this game has no real reason to exist. It's an FPS for a dollar, and boy do you get what you pay for. All sorts of interesting and quality games for not a lot of cash. I heard about this game a while back and always wanted to give it a go. Eventually it found its way into a humble bundle, like most downloadable titles seem to nowadays, so I ended up picking it up. I finally gave it a shot and it pretty much lived up to my expectations, a simple arcade-y experience with a pleasant atmosphere. End of the Road.

So overall Bloodborne is a really good game, ripe with fast and rewarding gameplay and a world that honestly rivals that of the original Dark Souls in both looks and cohesiveness. Sadly, Bloodborne falters in a few key areas. That IS Souls in a way. And, again, it can be easily argued that this isn't a Souls game technically, but, again, come on. Maybe he got ganked? End of the Road.
