cinnamon songs: The Driscolls - PC Roberts
http://cinnamonsongs.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-driscolls-pc-roberts.html
Brightening your life.three minutes at a time. Saturday, August 11, 2012. The Driscolls - PC Roberts. Late '80s jangle-pop band from Bristol whose entire recorded output seems to consist of a handful of 7"s and compilation tracks. Most of which are worth tracking down, if not exactly essential. This is from a 1987 cassette comp which mostly features bands of equal obscurity, though there are tracks from the McTells, Mayfields and Haywains - as well as a familiar one credited to "The Palesaints".

Brightening your life.three minutes at a time. Saturday, June 30, 2012. The Birthday Kiss - Starting to Come Back to Life. Wonderful song from this new(-ish) project of Ben from The Lodger (but featuring someone called Sarah on vocals). It has a real '60s feel but not in a psychedelic or Phil Spector sort of way - this is more up the Sandie Shaw alley. It dates from last year, I think. Links to this post. Friday, June 29, 2012. Annemarie - Lovely Afternoon. This is a track from Fall to Fall,. Great track...

Brightening your life.three minutes at a time. Wednesday, February 29, 2012. The Church - Into My Hands. A very simple piece of jangly folk-pop from the 1984 Remote Luxury. EP And by "very simple", I mean "absolutely stunning, though you might not notice it immediately". Why couldn't the Church be this wonderful all the time? Links to this post. Tuesday, February 28, 2012. It's from their 2000 debut (and only? Links to this post. Monday, February 27, 2012. Pale Saints - A Revelation. Links to this post.

It's a zine that never was. Mostly about indiepop. Sunday, 6 February 2011. Okay, I'm Sorry. Next post is The Lucksmiths. I wanted to post this week, but I knew I wouldn't be able to say the right things about the stuff I wanted to post about. So I figure a drunken post about something simple will do. RETRO HONPO are fucking mega. Here is some PROOF. I heard them cos The legendary Alan 'The Doc' Farme. R was DJing at The Aumtun Store all-daye. The moral of the story? Bite Yr Lip: Sourpatch - Crushin'
http://biteyrlip.blogspot.com/2011/03/sourpatch-crushin.html
It's a zine that never was. Mostly about indiepop. Sunday, 6 March 2011. I was worried when I got the record out of the sleeve. The vinyl seemed a little warped. Well actually it seemed alarmingly warped. Everything was okay when I got it on the turntable, though. It plays fiiiiiiiiine. I've already said over on Anorak. That each time I listen to this album I find my self thinking ' ooh, this is my favourite song on the album. Then the next song starts and I think '. oh, no,. They're a lovely, joyful (in...

Bite Yr Lip: Standard Fare/One Happy Island
http://biteyrlip.blogspot.com/2011/01/standard-fareone-happy-island.html
It's a zine that never was. Mostly about indiepop. Wednesday, 26 January 2011. Standard Fare/One Happy Island. Remember that Standard Fare,. Record I mentioned the other day? Well that lovely, lovely slab of orange vinyl from Thee SPC. Has remained on my turntable since. The difference between this time and last is that I’ve been flipping it over, and over, and over. The lyrics are the new one are great (as always) and the delivery is in Emma’s easily recognised, irresistible style. Ray k is foreign.

http://biteyrlip.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
It's a zine that never was. Mostly about indiepop. Thursday, 12 May 2011. My Favourite Piece of Plastic. My job at the moment is really doing my head in so I was trawling through old emails looking for forgotten fun. I found this thing I wrote about 4 years ago. It may well have appeared on The Autumn Store's blog. Some time back then, but I can't find it on there, so maybe not. Anyway, here it is. My Favourite Piece of Plastic. It’s the ‘Dialling Tone’ 7" by Milky Wimpshake. I can still remember why I b...

Brightening your life.three minutes at a time. Thursday, May 31, 2012. Dignan Porch - Like It Was Again. One of my favourite songs of the past couple years and I can't believe I haven't posted it yet. It's simple and sweet and could actually break your heart if you were in that sort of mood. It originally appeared as "Like It Was" on their 2010 debut album Tendrils. But was re-recorded, re-titled (sort of) and re-released for last year's Deluded. Oh, and they're from Tooting. Links to this post. I posted...

I don't like to party hard: time travel
http://ijustwantanicecupoftea.blogspot.com/2010/08/time-travel.html
Monday, 2 August 2010. I feel like the longer I'm here the more I revert back to being the 18 year old I was when I left. If only I was a skinny as her I wouldn't mind so much. Maybe it's the people, maybe it's the topics of conversation; I think it's probably just me though. That's enough self-indulgent introspection for one day I think. Now, hands up who thinks I'm a little crazy. Feel free to share. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Aga - a lovely person's blog.
