Baseball Cards Come to Life!: May 2015
http://borosny.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Baseball Cards Come to Life! Sunday, May 31, 2015. Bought the whole dimebox. And it wasn't crap either. Years ago I had bought a couple of dime boxes off of him, at a $10 a row rate. I asked him if I could get this one for $20 and he said "sure". Here are some highlights of the good stuff. There were two copies of this Jeff Montgomery minor league card (so one is up for trade). It's not 1987 anymore). Coolest of all is that last year he made news. If you like photos like that then you would love Collecto...

http://borosny.blogspot.com/2015/05/player-profile-craig-breslow.html
Baseball Cards Come to Life! Monday, May 4, 2015. Player Profile: Craig Breslow. I have four cards of Craig Breslow. This one is from 2006 Topps. Playing career: Craig Breslow. Has put up pretty good numbers as a middle reliever despite bouncing around with six different teams, going 22-23 with a 3.20 ERA in 479 games. Interesting facts: He is the Executive Director of the Strike 3 Foundation. Which raises funding for childhood cancer research. Coming up next: The next profile will be Jason Brester.

Baseball Cards Come to Life!: Swing And A Grand Slam
http://borosny.blogspot.com/2015/05/swing-and-grand-slam.html
Baseball Cards Come to Life! Friday, May 8, 2015. Swing And A Grand Slam. I got a really fantastic trade package crammed with all sorts of awesome oddballs from Swing And A Pop-Up. More like Swing And A Grand Slam - in fact, two of them. The 1978 Grand Slam set was put together by future Donruss photographer Jack Wallin. The set featured retired ballplayers and was aimed at the autograph-hunter. Jumbo Sunflower Seeds have been family owned for four generations. Probably no type of food is more associ...

Baseball Cards Come to Life!: Baseball card stories from Ray Peters
http://borosny.blogspot.com/2015/05/baseball-card-stories-from-ray-peters.html
Baseball Cards Come to Life! Sunday, May 10, 2015. Baseball card stories from Ray Peters. Was the Seattle Pilots' number one draft pick in 1969. Though he only pitched three years of professional baseball, he did make the major leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1970. He kindly shared some great baseball card stories. First, I really do not. Okay, so now I had a "custom card" that I could send to autograph seekers and to kids in the neighborhood who were always asking for one from me. I asked these ca...

Night Owl Cards: That moment of realization
http://nightowlcards.blogspot.com/2015/05/that-moment-of-realization.html
Best of Night Owl Cards. Best set of year. Match the song title. Best of the 1970s. CA Hall of Fame. Thursday, May 21, 2015. That moment of realization. I've collected quite a few sets since starting in this hobby, and I've completed dozens and dozens of them. Completing a large trading card set provides a joy that can't be matched by anything else, I've found, at least not in the card-collecting realm. Look how serious I am about this! This happened to me just the other day. Lucky me, I was confined to ...

Baseball Cards Come to Life!: More from last Wednesday
http://borosny.blogspot.com/2015/05/more-from-last-wednesday.html
Baseball Cards Come to Life! Monday, May 11, 2015. More from last Wednesday. Last Wednesday I got two trade packages in the mail, a free bag of cards, and a $3 box. I've shown everything but some highlights from the $3 box. Here are some cards that stood out there. Still lots of Bowmans, including the occasional low-print-run color versions. Here is an Upper Deck card of Michael Cuddyer clearly holding a 2004 Topps card. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My wantlist and tradlist. The Greatest 21 Days.

Baseball Cards Come to Life!: What a Day for Baseball Cards
http://borosny.blogspot.com/2015/05/what-day-for-baseball-cards.html
Baseball Cards Come to Life! Thursday, May 7, 2015. What a Day for Baseball Cards. Yesterday was quite a day for baseball cards for me. During the afternoon I cut out of work for a bit to take the subway to Brooklyn to get a free bag of baseball cards from a guy on Craigslist. Then after work I got another $3 box from my usual street vendor. Then I got home and there were two trade packages in the mail! Here are some highlights from one of them, from O No Another Orioles Blog. My wantlist and tradlist.

Baseball Cards Come to Life!: A $2 Box
http://borosny.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-2-box.html
Baseball Cards Come to Life! Saturday, May 16, 2015. This box was pretty bad, filled almost entirely with junk wax. I told Al I wasn't interested in this one but he offered to take $2 for it, and there was a small handful of Upper Deck Vintage in there, so I decided to take it for $2. There ended up being only about 20 cards that were not junk wax, so I think $2 was a fair price. This is a pretty cool looking insert, from 1995 Fleer. May 17, 2015 at 3:51 PM.
