We all hear people say, "Don't crack your knuckles! It will give you arthritis! 8221; But is this an old-wives’ tale or is there some truth to this? Afterall, it does seem like the joint becomes stressed repeatedly. Before we can decide we should see what is happening in the joints when that popping happens. A new report from the Scripps Institute. In La Jolla, CA, describes a vaccine they have made against heroin. The next step would be to develop a version that could be used in people. Maybe it could be used after someone has completed a course of conventional detoxification therapy, to prevent a relapse (one assumes that they would simply not get a high from the drug, which would be neutralized by antibodies). On line, someone has already suggested giving the vaccine to every child at birth! Is the place ...

Upregulation of TNF-a leads to working memory deficits. Evidence from humans suggests that most chronic pain patients (without brain involvement) experience working memory deficits. However, the mechanism responsible for this effect has remained elusive. This effect does not seem dependent on pain level though, as acute pain patients do not have memory deficits, nor do the deficits improve in chronic pain patients on opioid therapy. Being physically active may protect the brain from Alzheimer disease. This brings up an interesting point. Is it realty the vigor of physical activity that decreases risk? Or is it rather some combination of increased mental stimulation and physical activity due to active lifestyles that decreases risk?
