Finding pieces of Europe when you're not there. Tuesday, February 15, 2011. And now for some shameless self-promotion: this week my first ever story app. For the iPad) made it into the iTunes store. Intended as a bedtime story, it deals with the very serious issue of a missing Lollipop Lady. Heady stuff. It's illustrated by the very talented Ekaterina Trukhan. Who did a fabulous job. Needless to say, this is an exciting moment, and I'm very proud of the whole thing. More info on the website. Recently mov...

The Island Bakery decided to rebrand their complete biscuits packaging range and they went to agency Ziggurat Brands to transform their product. I was commissioned by Ziggurat Brands to come up with a number of fun characters to playfully represent island life across the packets. I was also commissioned to illustrate waves dolphins and fishing boats for the inside of the boxes, which is a nice touch for the consumers to find. Packaging for the Island Bakery. The Missionary Mum: August 2013
http://themissionarymum.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 30. Three in the Bed! Once again 'hats off' to all those single parents out there! I had my munchkins for just two nights and missed the teamwork that we manage as a couple! Mark has been away sitting exams in Dar Es Salaam. Sadly, for just an hour or two of exams it takes a whopping three days. One day there, one for the exams and one back! The first morning without Daddy found three in the bed and the second morning, two . but that was still one too many! And yet it's one of the rites of...

english girls elsewhere: (Malin+Goetz)

Finding pieces of Europe when you're not there. Monday, August 1, 2011. I'm rather fickle when it comes to skin and hair care products, and am often swayed by a new fragrance or packaging that catches my eye. Of late I have fallen head over heels with New York company (Malin Goetz). Discovered by M at the Drake General Store. In Rosedale (a lovely little outpost of the original on Queen West). Bergamot body wash. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. M and j photos.

english girls elsewhere: le select bistro
http://englishgirlselsewhere.blogspot.com/2011/07/le-select-bistro.html
Finding pieces of Europe when you're not there. Tuesday, July 26, 2011. I've always loved a good, straightforward French bistro - haven't you? Last Sunday M and I were lucky enough to have brunch at Le Select. On Wellington with some of our favourite people. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere just right. In fact, it's probably the closest thing to a meal in France on this side of the pond. Speaking of la belle France, does anyone remember the old BBC comedy 'Allo 'Allo. Ah, what fun.

Finding pieces of Europe when you're not there. Monday, November 22, 2010. Centurion Ride, Blue Mountains. Every now and then I feel homesick, and then a friend sends me something like this, which cheers me up. Clearly we should all sing more in airport terminals. Tuesday, November 16, 2010. For quite some time now, I have found myself drawn to Scandinavian designers. Recently I discovered the delightful work of Swedish artist Agneta Livikn. Wednesday, November 10, 2010. english girls elsewhere: petite & sweet
http://englishgirlselsewhere.blogspot.com/2011/06/petite-sweet.html
Finding pieces of Europe when you're not there. Wednesday, June 29, 2011. M and I often lament the absence of a decent coffee shop within walking distance of the house. Recently, however, we noticed a newcomer to the neighbourhood: Petite and Sweet. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I'm a Brit in Toronto with a fondness for all things European. Do I love Canada? Absolutely. But does that mean I don't miss afternoon tea, real pubs and the good old London Underground? View my complete profile.

english girls elsewhere: September 2010

Finding pieces of Europe when you're not there. Wednesday, September 29, 2010. I love this wallpaper from Bouf. Surely the best way to acquire more books without having to worry about reading them all? I'm way behind on my 'to read' list. Wednesday, September 22, 2010. Have I mentioned lately that I love clocks? Well, I do. One of my favourite things ever is the chime of a grandfather clock. Which is why I rather like this clever take on the old-fashioned classic - a wallpaper clock. Rain, rain, go away.
