SE Qld Antique and Collectables Fairs 2016. Wednesday, 7 May 2014. Depression Era Ingenuity - Recycling At Its Best (Part 2). The tool box is rather crudely made but quite robust. It measures approximately 55cm wide x 36cm deep and 28cm high. Unfortunately, it has some small damage to the drop down front. We will probably never know. Both the top and the bottom are marked with FIRE TEST 150º indicating the burning quality of the kerosene that would have originally been in these crates. Top shelf revealin...

SE Qld Antique and Collectables Fairs 2016. Monday, 19 November 2012. A Little Bit More Shed Decor. I have added a few bits and pieces to my shed recently. Some I made myself and some I picked up at the last Collectorama at Nambour. The first photo shows three 3 dimensional barnstars that I made. They are made from some thin galvanised sheet tin that I actually bought probably over 30 years ago. I was going to use it to make trays for the bottom of some birdcages that I intended to build. I actually saw ...

SE Qld Antique and Collectables Fairs 2016. Monday, 15 October 2012. I've finally got my pharmaceutical collection into some form of order. At least the best stuff is all displayed together with the overflow stored in my stationary cupboard close by. I'm using the display stand that I made for my recent club show to house all my dispensing bottles (and a bit more). It's always nice to see a collection come together in a display. Large Pink Drug Jar. This jar is also in excellent condition. The third item...

Johnnyfive Collectables: My Want List

SE Qld Antique and Collectables Fairs 2016. Thought I would put up a want list of some of the items I would like to add to my collections. Who knows, some of you just might have and want to sell one of these items or know of someone else who does. If so, I might just be the person who would be interested in buying it. Cast Iron Washing Mangle. I have a few Edison cylinders but nothing to play them on. A cylinder gramophone would make a nice addition to my upright 78rpm gramophone and my portable 78rp...

SE Qld Antique and Collectables Fairs 2016. Saturday, 2 November 2013. My Birthday Visit to the Historical Brisbane Home MIEGUNYAH. We left early so that we could arrive at "Miegunyah" just when it opened. Unfortunately, I didn't check the opening times before we left and we turned up half an hour early. At least we weren't late. Thank goodness for electronic devices such as laptops, iPads and mobile phones to while away the spare half hour. The Drawing Room - most likely originally the main bedroom.
