The Irish Wolfhound is the tallest of all dog breeds and its name originates from the breed’s purpose of wolf hunting. The Wolfhound is an easygoing dog who seems to be aware somehow of it’s large size and is therefore a gentle soul. While the Wolfhound has never officially been designated as the national dog of Ireland, it vies for that honor with the Kerry Blue Terrier.
