https://embarcando.wordpress.com/2013/03/06/unconvential-packing-list
Neither here nor there. Why, hello there. All over the place, so this post is too. A crowd, dust and the sunset →. March 6, 2013. A friend here asked me the other day what I hope to take back from Paraguay. Not the tangible, but the habits I’ve picked up. The first things that came to mind were probably pretty common from Volunteers who serve here. I hope I continue to drink. It’s going to be a much more expensive habit back home though). I hope I hold on to some of the tranquilo. Having enough calories ...

The ideas and opinions expressed in this blog are soley those of its creator, and do not represent the views of the Peace Corps or the United States Government. Monday, May 20, 2013. Visit to Nueva Germania. I'm in Guarambaré with my host family, Cristi and Artemio, again. I spent most of last week up in Nueva Germania visiting and saying goodbye. That visit was the most powerful part of my long Paraguayan despedida. The passivity, la tranquilidad. I'll buy my bus ticket for 9am wednesday to Salta, Argen...

The ideas and opinions expressed in this blog are soley those of its creator, and do not represent the views of the Peace Corps or the United States Government. Friday, October 12, 2012. Thanks to my neighbor's blessed generosity in leaving their wifi without a password, I have just been finally immersing myself in Gangnam Style. The Korean rap music video that's gone crazy viral in the last few months. They are all just giddy. While the material developed in Hispanic America is obviously comprehensible ...

La Vida Linda: The rain and the mud.
http://ianparaguay.blogspot.com/2012/04/rain-and-mud.html
The ideas and opinions expressed in this blog are soley those of its creator, and do not represent the views of the Peace Corps or the United States Government. Monday, April 30, 2012. The rain and the mud. When it rains, it pours. But you'll will catch a cold! The mud which follows the rain has some supernatural quality to it. It has powers that render analogy with my past North-American mud experience irrelvant and even absurd. Mud affects people's daily lives in Paraguay in a way that is incon...Learn...

Neither here nor there. Why, hello there. A vida pantaneira (life in the pantanal). Learning to be home again. November 3, 2013. Above: pictures of Rio, I fell in love with the city and the most hospitable people I’ve met on this Earth in 4 days flat. Below: massive blog post. I tried to write this blog post several times since I first got back (oh, god) almost 5 months ago. What I found out was: 1). I had integrated extremely well and my auto-response was mañana/otro dia. Find a high paying job? I found...

Neither here nor there. Why, hello there. Monthly Archives: May 2013. A vida pantaneira (life in the pantanal). May 11, 2013. I’ve been working at a really cool cattle ranch and ecolodge in the Brazilian Pantanal. It’s so hard to sum up the experience I’ve been having here so I revert to lists of cool new things. Also, the list of … Continue reading →. Jopara / Guarani expressions. Enter your email address to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email. Join 10 other followers.

a crowd, dust and the sunset | neither here nor there

Neither here nor there. Why, hello there. A word after a word / after a word is power. →. A crowd, dust and the sunset. March 25, 2013. I went to the first soccer game of the season yesterday and snapped this shot after a heart-attack inducing, exciting game. The weather has been fantastic! I love the first real days of fall – everyone is just so grateful for the cool nights and a breeze. It’s jean wearing, picnic having, grapefruit eating, physically full of happiness weather. Just an old soul in limbo.

Neither here nor there. Why, hello there. Monthly Archives: January 2013. Speaking of buses…. January 28, 2013. After our Close of Service Conference, about 30 peace corps volunteers and I took a trip to the Salto Cristal waterfall. Somehow all the norteamericanos and all our bags (we have LARGE bags) fit on a bus that was already half … Continue reading →. Would you like a side of cocaine with those socks? January 13, 2013.
