The electric meter will already be charged up on your arrival with enough electricity for your stay. If the electric does run out, the button on the meter can be used for £10.00 additional credit. Nobody has yet needed more, but for reference you may like to know that the meter takes payment via a plastic 'key' for which credit can bought from the Co-op in Horve (the supermarket on the way to Castlebay). Alternatively, you can contact me or my housekeeper during your stay and we'll get this sorted for you.

Barra is about 65 miles from Oban (i.e. the mainland) off the west coast of Scotland. It is linked to a smaller island, Vatersay, via a causeway. These are the most southerly inhabited islands of the Outer Hebrides. Barra has an area of about 35 square miles. There is a circular road around the island of about 14 miles (the A888). Welcome to Isle of Barra Oysters. Sitting in the midst of the wild Atlantic Ocean is the beautiful Isle of Barra. It is the most westerly island in Scotland, a 5 hour boat ride from the mainland and one of Scotland’s most remote inhabited islands.
