We have recently turned out attention to investigating correlations between a country's birth rate and other factors, such as wealth, literacy levels, infant mortality and other variables following a brainstorming exercise. Students created their own scatter graph in order to look for correlations between the birth rate and another variable, and have then made use of the data and graphing features available on www.gapminder.org.
