Synopsis of Books Read. The Ivanhoe Reading Circle is probably the oldest cultural body in the City of Banyule and one of the oldest book discussion groups in Melbourne. It held its first meeting on 18 April 1920. Its founder was the Rev. R W Rock, at that time the Minister of the Knox Presbyterian Church in Noel Street, Ivanhoe. The group drew its members initially from that congregation but from its inception it welcomed all who wished to join. Currently there are 45 members.
