Tales of a Modern Day Alchemist. Harness the Power of Your Metaphors! January 13, 2010. It is has been said, there are two things that you can count on in life, death and taxes. In my case, there’s one more and that would be visiting Kristy’s grandmother, lovingly called Gnin in Cantonese every weekend in Monterey Park, California, where everything is in Chinese and a tall white guy always seems a bit out of place. That looks like a parking lot. Yes it does. I replied. Continuing on our way unimpeded and...

Tales of a Modern Day Alchemist. Across the OUR niverse. Harness the Power of Your Metaphors! October 14, 2009. One of my earliest memories of unconditional love occurred in the spring of 1975. I was six. My four sisters and I were huddled around the television in the family room watching Saturday morning cartoons when my father poked his head in and said with a big smile on his face, Turn the TV off and come into the living room. Your mom’s got a surprise for you. No reason. No reason at all. Ju...That’...

The Taskmaster & the Rebel | Michael Porcelli's Blog

Michael Porcelli’s Blog. The Taskmaster and the Rebel. I learned a lot about the world, myself, emotions, and relationships. I suspended coming to certain conclusions and often did the opposite of my upbringing to see what it was like. This seriously did not make any sense to me until I eventually discovered something new. Growing up I had formed a habit of motivating myself through berating myself. This sounds like a voice in my head saying stuff like, “You suck you idiot! Feed You can leave a response.

Michael Porcelli’s Blog. From my Self-Distraction, with Love. One of the things I have been experiencing is self-distraction. What a crazy concept! I mean, I’m the one who wants to go one way, so who is this other person inside myself that is distracting me? It’s all their fault! OK, that feels better, a bit. Wait, that didn’t help! My self-distraction calls to me – reminding me of these inner potentials ultimately beyond the capacity of my everyday mind to control or comprehend. I call myself ...You mov...

The Phoenix Effect
http://thephoenixeffect.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 24, 2007. I can see the lights of the city from my bedroom window as I type. They feel like my holiday decorations do 3 days after Christmas, right before I take them down for the new year. All that glitter and gold and shine was great at first, but after working in Las Vegas for 4 days, I’m so ready to go home. Thank God tomorrow I can. Not many people are awake in the Town that Never Sleeps. Darkness ribbons smoke-like through streets like the plague. I see dead people. The mystery of love.

Your heart decides who it likes and who it doesn’t. You can’t tell your heart what to do. It does it all on its own, when you least expect it, or even when you don’t want it to. It loves who it wants to love, and there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s not where you are in life. It’s who you have by your side that matters. You know what your problem is? This is so adorable. Strange, isn’t it?

OOTD / Ladies Night. Boo for short nails :(. Inspiration #9 Bronde/Balayage Hair. Boring person alert - I've never dyed my hair. I dabbled with ombre a few years ago but never went the whole hog. It's always been for one main reason - I know I wouldn't have bothered with upkeep, but would have slowly let the dye grow out until I looked even more. Dishevelled than I do now. I mean, my hair is lucky if it sees a brush most days, much to the annoyance of my mum. I've lived in Dubai for a year now and althou...

I Wish I Could Write Like This. Just another WordPress.com site. Estrangement – This American Life. March 1, 2012. Choosing not to become the person your family expected is painful. You have to leave their world completely just to make sense of your own life, and then fate lures you back whenever it can to give you the chance to measure the distance between their world and yours and see if it’s still just as far as you remembered. 8220;For sale: baby shoes, never worn” – Ernest Hemingway. LIFE FACTS...
Wednesday, 30 October 2013. Individuals say disillusionment's are some piece of Life. But when these frustrations turn into your life you have a tendency to detach yourself. I generally settle on choice rapidly in life. I have a propensity to see the best in everybody, as well as to expect that everybody is sincerely fit for arriving at his most noteworthy potential. I know its tricky to watch out for something you know may never happen; yet its harder to surrender when you know its all that you need.
