Sunday, December 02, 2007. Tuesday, November 27, 2007. Thanksgiving - New Orleans. This year we found cheap flights to New Orleans for Thanksgiving. (It is pronounced more like Norlans) One of my work mates, Carlos, used to live there so he gave us valuable insight and a few contacts. Never mind, we had fun driving it. The plantation was run by a series of matriarchs spanning about four generations. It had a large ***** population (I think 200) and some of their houses are still standing. The Br'...That ...

Jaci and Pete: December 2006

http://jaciandpete.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 08, 2006. First snow for the winter - just in time to leave. This morning we woke to the first snow of the winter. It was -7 degrees celcius and the weather channel said the wind chill factor brought it down to about -12. It was a lovely reminder of the winter about to hit. Luckily we are leaving very soon for Australia! I am off to a conference in San Francisco in a couple of days. It won't be snowing there thank goodness. Not much other news. I will see many of you very soon!

Jaci and Pete: If only we knew how to line dance...

http://jaciandpete.blogspot.com/2007/07/if-only-we-knew-how-to-line-dance.html

Tuesday, July 10, 2007. If only we knew how to line dance. Its been a long time since I've updated the blog I know, but I was waiting for some happy news rather than all sad. We are back in New Haven now and trying to get life back on track. We headed back to New Haven on the Sunday. I think Liss and Luke were relieved to not be a hotel anymore and eating home cooked meals (even if they were vegetarian). Monday night we ventured down town where they are filming Indiana Jones 4. The shops have all bee...

Jaci and Pete: Feb - Another busy month

http://jaciandpete.blogspot.com/2007/02/feb-another-busy-month.html

Sunday, February 25, 2007. Feb - Another busy month. This weekend has been peaceful and quiet with nothing to do! San Francisco: Beach, Workshop Dinner, the bendy street. So this weekend I am happy sitting at home and catching up on jobs around the house. In April I have two more job interviews at Stanford and Johns Hopkins. I've also written a proposal for an ARC grant in Australia - so fingers crossed. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Feb - Another busy month. View my complete profile.

Jaci and Pete: October 2007

http://jaciandpete.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Saturday, October 27, 2007. Can you guess who we are? Dr Who and a 70s Dr Who chick. Well we have done a lot on this trip and I can't remember most of it. No, not from drinking - but because we have done so much! XA0;  . We have spent most of the last week in Ireland. Linda's favourite place was Scotland, but I think I like Ireland the best. I've really enjoyed the historical parts of Ireland and the stories. The cynical humour suits me more too. XA0;      . We wander around shops but haven't bought much.

freedom, playfulness and education: Being there and discourse

http://freedomandplayfulness.blogspot.com/2007/03/being-there-and-discourse.html

Freedom, playfulness and education. I feel compelled to explore freedom and playfulness within education. This is a record of that exploration. Sunday, March 04, 2007. Being there and discourse. Does learning - when described with assertion and interpretation - feed directly back into freedom as an understanding which discloses playfulness? For the first time. Will indicate that this phenomenon has its roots in the existential constitution of Dasein's disclosedness. This phenomenon is one of which we hav...

Freedom, playfulness and education. I feel compelled to explore freedom and playfulness within education. This is a record of that exploration. Sunday, March 04, 2007. Idle talk, curiosity and ambiguity. From Being and Time:. When Dasein maintains itself in idle talk, it is - as Being-in-the-world - cut off from its promary and primordially genuine relationships-of-Being towards the world, towards its very being-in. p. (214). Aristotle] The care for seeing is essential to man's being. (p. 215). Curiosity...

Freedom, playfulness and education. I feel compelled to explore freedom and playfulness within education. This is a record of that exploration. Sunday, March 11, 2007. From Being and Time. Of Dasein. (p. 219). However, this tranquillity in inauthentic Being does not seduce one into stagnation and inactivity, but drives one into uninhibited 'hustle'. Being-fallen into the 'world' does not now somehow come to rest. (p. 222). In itself. (p. 223). Is this of playing. Dasein plunges out of itself into itself,...

Freedom, playfulness and education. I feel compelled to explore freedom and playfulness within education. This is a record of that exploration. Saturday, March 04, 2006. Playfulness as a Mode of State-of-Mind. When looking at the example of 'fear' that Heidegger uses for state-of-mind in Being and Time. It has become difficult for me to directly compare with playfulness. So I will tease out playfulness and associated concepts, and then come back to fear. Below is informed by Gadamer's. Playing is giving ...

Freedom, playfulness and education. I feel compelled to explore freedom and playfulness within education. This is a record of that exploration. Sunday, February 25, 2007. Assertion cannot disown its ontological origin from an interpretation which understands. (p. 201). I need to reflect and explore further assertion, interpretation and learning. Freedom, playfulness and education. I feel compelled to explore freedom and playfulness within education. This is a record of that exploration. Sunday, February 25, 2007. Back to Being and Time - Assertion (Judgment). From a previous blog. This process of interpretation and building meaning could be one way of starting to define learning. Freedom, playfulness and education. I feel compelled to explore freedom and playfulness within education. This is a record of that exploration. Tuesday, April 25, 2006. Understanding and Interpretation - learning? Considering 'interpretation' in Being and Time. In light of my previous thoughts has led what feels like further insight - but I am not sure. The direction of further exploration is unclear for me so what follows is scouting for possible paths. In so far as understanding and interpretation make...

Jaci and Josh | Just another WordPress.com weblog

Just another WordPress.com weblog. October 2, 2010. Well, as I mentioned, Josh and I got married on July 4 2010. Our wedding was in Oregon, and it was wonderful. We then went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon, which was also wonderful. On the way back to Texas we spent a few days in Northern California with my sister. Eventually we arrived back in Austin and got to work making our house look nice. We also took a trip to Atlanta to see our friend Amy get married. October 2, 2010. July 4, 2010.
