The Write Life: My wish...
http://agerrans.blogspot.com/2015/01/my-wish.html
Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Today marks one year since my Grandma took her last breath and went to sleep until Jesus comes. In some ways it has seemed like a long year, but in other ways it has really flown by. I don't have that chance anymore, at least not in this world. But I absolutely cannot wait to find her again at the second coming and introduce my kids to her, to enjoy the prospect of them getting to know each other for all of eternity. Even so, come, Lord Jesus." ( Rev. 22:20b. Hi, I'm Ali. I...

Monday, January 26, 2015. 30 things I’ve learned in 30 years. I turned 30 yesterday, and thought I'd capture the event with a fun and inspirational blog post. These might be things I've learned as a child, a teen, or in my 20s. I might have learned them in family life, or by living alone, in married life, or by living overseas. But one thing is sure: they're all things I've learned for myself in the past 30 years of my life! Books are magical and once you open one, anything is possible. Travel. Near ...

Ever Nearer: Manna
http://evernearer.blogspot.com/2015/07/manna.html
Saturday, July 4, 2015. Even a casual perusal of history makes plain the evils of the human heart in war and senseless killings. And now, as militants make plans for murder in the name of God on the basis of religion and our own country demolishes towns and families in the name of freedom, I wonder. What is it? That blatant disregard for human life, the voice of blood crying from the ground. That spirit, it scares me. What is it that transcends that? So what is it? Like the martyrs of the reformation, si...

Emitting Photons: September 2011
http://darkredtrillium.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
I have lately been contemplating mercy and justice. While teaching you really need to have that balance. Sometimes as I look at my students grades I want to do everything I can to help them, but then I look at what they have done for homework. When I see that they haven't been trying how can I offer them mercy? I Beg Your Pardon. Sabbath I cannot." and you give them a pitying look that says "I'm really sorry if it wasn't for this constraint I would do this with you.". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Rules to...

Emitting Photons: November 2012
http://darkredtrillium.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
The other day I was reading a granola bar package and it was proclaiming that it was 70% organic. That sounds nice but if the bar has some parts of it that are organic and some parts of it that aren't then the bar is not in fact organic. In order for the bar to be called organic it would have to be 100% organic. I got to thinking about Christianity and 70%. If we are 70% Christian, are we Christian? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). There is something peaceful about the library. Surrounded by hundreds of books. The smell is safe; the air is still. There is whispers but nothing louder than that. I sit between two of my favorite subjects. Language on the right and science on the left with my Bible in my lap. I understand we are busy but maybe as a whole we are busy with the wrong things? Wednesday, January 15, 2014. I know my recent blog posts have been focusing on my grandmother, but she was a special person and I am inspired to write when I think of her. There might be a few more posts about her in the next little while. I found these pictures while I was looking for the perfect photos to include in my 10 Things I Love About Grandma. Emitting Photons: A Friend
http://darkredtrillium.blogspot.com/2013/02/a-friend.html
This is a poem that a friend of mine shared that really made me think. I hope that it will make you pause for a moment too and think about what it means to be a true friend. My friend, I stand in the judgment now,. And feel that you're to blame somehow. On earth, I walked with you day by day,. And never did you point the way. You knew the Lord in truth and glory,. But never did you tell me the story. My knowledge then was very dim,. You could have led the way to Him. Thou we lived together on the earth,.

Ever Nearer: April 2014

Monday, April 7, 2014. When one of my patients first told me how he was taught to resuscitate people, I didn't really believe him. But then, he provided proof in the form of this page from his 1950's Boy Scout book:. Although I still can't say that I think CPR is the greatest thing ever, it would seem quite possibly more effective than this. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. The Write Life: My Travels
http://agerrans.blogspot.com/p/travels.html
Traveling is a passion of mine, and I want to explore all over the globe! Guatemala City, Guatemala. In the middle of my university years, I took a semester off and went to Guatemala for three and a half months. I had grown up hearing stories of my mum's own three-and-a-half-month stint working at an orphanage in Honduras, and had always longed to do orphanage work, too, someday. From mid-February to the end of May 2006 I worked at an International Children's Care. Usa River, Tanzania. For eight months&#...
