A Specialist Anglers Diary: Back to the barbel - A tale of three rivers
http://www.speci-angler.co.uk/2015/01/back-to-barbel-tale-of-three-rivers.html
A Specialist Anglers Diary. The story so far. Friday, 2 January 2015. Back to the barbel - A tale of three rivers. The Soar in all its glory. One of two 5lb chub in three trips. One thing I have been doing a bit this year is sticking a small bright "sight blob", for want of a better word, on top of the hair rigged boilie. Carp anglers have been doing this for donkeys years so why not barbel? With the fish returned I finally sat down and made another cast. Again it was only a matter of minutes before ...

Barbel Quest: October 2014
http://barbelquest.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Southern Barbel hunting and other random ramblings. Sunday, 26 October 2014. A brief hours session down the very low river this afternoon. resulted in a couple of knocks on the luncheon meat bait and this little scrapper of 2lb 6oz, which had to un-ceremoniously hauled in by hand after my reel managed to jam solid during the fight. Prior to this I had watched a couple of very nice Carp inspect my bait before deciding against it. Monday, 20 October 2014. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 101 Uses for a Tesco Bag.

Personal best fish – Ben Hennessy's Blog
https://benhennessy79.wordpress.com/personal-best-fish
Ben Hennessy's Blog. My name is Ben and I love going fishing. I’m still trying to work out exactly why I enjoy spending hours and hours wandering around rivers and pools, hoping to tempt a fish to take my bait. Perhaps it’s simply an excuse to be outdoors and connect with nature – pure escapism. I’ve been fishing for well over twenty years. I generally try to break at least one personal best each year. That’s about as strategic as I get with my fishing. My modest personal best list:. I tempted this perso...

Perch Fishing – Impatience is a Virtue – Ben Hennessy's Blog
https://benhennessy79.wordpress.com/2015/03/10/perch-fishing-impatience-is-a-virtue
Ben Hennessy's Blog. Perch Fishing Impatience is a Virtue. I’m in a busy London Wetherspoons, having decided on a quick pint before heading home. He shuffles off, laughing quietly to himself. I tried a second spot. I drank another cup of coffee. I recast. I felt impatient. I can’t deny by that point I was already thinking about maybe grabbing a bite to eat somewhere warm before collecting my cabinet. There were no other anglers around. Why not? Did they know something I didn’t? I thought to myself. A goo...

Viaduct carp – Ben Hennessy's Blog
https://benhennessy79.wordpress.com/2015/04/20/viaduct-carp
Ben Hennessy's Blog. It’s something I’ve thought about a lot recently finding a genuine carp fishing adventure. Exploring new waters off the beaten track; perhaps even landing a special fish. But of course these things take time. So it’s a very loose project that will take place over years rather than weeks or months but I’m determined to find it. Viaduct fishery in Somerset. Fishing for carp using floating baits is enourmous fun. Soon after a nice mirror carp made the same mistake before, just as I was ...
