Wednesday, March 19, 2014. A Practical Guide for the Light Infantry Officer. Regency England was a nation at war for nearly twenty-five years- much longer than the 1811-1820 span of the actual Regency. Publications of the era sometimes reflect the emphasis on military and naval affairs. One such book is "A Practical Guide for the Light Infantry Officer", published in 1806. Communication by bugle and drum was an essential part of infantry work. The Practical Guide. But the sentiments in the Guide. I hope ...

Bellsknits: The Year's End
http://bellsknits.blogspot.com/2009/12/years-end.html
Sunday, 27 December 2009. As 2009 draws to a close, I've been looking forward again to glancing back over what happened for me creatively this year. It's something I really look forward to, pulling all the photos together on Flickr and building the mosaic you see below. I love seeing the journey, the progress and the colours. Also, big changes in store for this blog in 2010. In the first week of January, I'll be moving. The decision's been building for a while and I made it last week. So come...11 Sean's...

Ainsley Park: March 2006
http://ainsleypark.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
Celebrating the historical romance. Tuesday, March 14, 2006. The market for historicals is tight." "Historicals are dying." "You can't sell a historical in today's market place.". We historical writers have all heard these lines. So how do you keep going? How do you find the faith to continue with your historical story? Yeah, they are out there, but you got to look. When was the last time you read a book that didn't take place in the British Isles? Has broken from the mold. Her last book. Now, had this g...

Ainsley Park: Blast to the Past
http://ainsleypark.blogspot.com/2009/07/blast-to-past.html
Celebrating the historical romance. Thursday, July 16, 2009. Blast to the Past. I've been in a little bit of a writing funk. Not a bad one. I'm just tired of what I've been writing. I imagine it happens to everyone. I crave a world different from the one I've been writing in. For those of you who are interested either as readers or writers in historical fiction and romance, what issue do you feel are important? Is there something missing you'd like to see? Too much of something? I like the ones that just...

Ainsley Park: October 2006
http://ainsleypark.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html
Celebrating the historical romance. Saturday, October 21, 2006. Is anyone planning to see this movie? I'm the same way with books I suppose, although with books, an author has time to present the facts correctly. Maybe because I am a writer I am a tougher critic. We seem to be tougher judges on our own, I think that is pretty much true with any profession. Have you ever been out to dinner with a waitress? Anyway, what do you think? I can't wait to see the costumes. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Ainsley Park: July 2006

Celebrating the historical romance. Sunday, July 30, 2006. I try to be as accurate as I can when I’m working on a historical. I research the facts, make sure my details are true and hope to convey the feeling of the time period. But what if these conflicts with what a reader expects? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
