Writing in the Blackberry Patch

Writing in the Blackberry Patch. Tuesday, February 27, 2018. I love blackberries. I grew up picking them every summer with Grandma, Mom, my aunt on occasion, and my cousin. I now grow tame vines in my yard and put them in our freezer. We usually made cobblers with them and jams and jellies. I do crafts every Wednesday at the Senior Center where I volunteer. Along with a craft I take a blackberry dessert. Tomorrow I am leading the Crazy Crafters in making cookie jars. Here is a pic of my ugly cookies.

Writing in the Blackberry Patch: Fried Apples

http://janetsmart.blogspot.com/2009/07/fried-apples.html

Writing in the Blackberry Patch. Tuesday, July 7, 2009. Our neighbor has an apple tree loaded with what I call early June apples. I walked back from her house toting a bag full of the tart apples yesterday afternoon. Put butter in the skillet, dump the apples in and top with sugar to taste. With these apples it may take quite a bit of sugar. They don't take long to cook up. Taste them while cooking to see if you need to add more sugar or not. Mmmmm Mmmmmm. They are slightly tart, but oh so good! I love f...

Writing in the Blackberry Patch: Lady Bug Yard Art

http://janetsmart.blogspot.com/2014/07/lady-bug-yard-art.html

Writing in the Blackberry Patch. Monday, July 14, 2014. Lady Bug Yard Art. We made a lady bug! Okay, I'm not sure what we made it out of - but it was a steel cover or lid of some sort. This was 'found,' discarded salvage. We like to recover and reuse stuff around here. We painted the inside and outside with red spray paint. We let it dry and covered it with painter's tape, and using a canning lid as a template, we drew circles for the lady bug spots. We also drew her head and a line down the back. For sm...

Writing in the Blackberry Patch: My Blackberries are Ripe!

http://janetsmart.blogspot.com/2014/08/my-blackberries-are-ripe.html

Writing in the Blackberry Patch. Monday, August 4, 2014. My Blackberries are Ripe! I finally get to blog about my blackberries. We had a very. Bad winter and a very. Hungry rabbit that liked to chew - so our blackberry canes, that were to have berries on them this year, all died. Every one of them! They like to hide. Peppermint abounds at the end of one of the rows. But I don't complain, because in the other row. I don't have very many, but. I think they are the prettiest berries I've had in years. Augus...

Writing in the Blackberry Patch: Appalachian Food

http://janetsmart.blogspot.com/2015/07/appalachian-food.html

Writing in the Blackberry Patch. Thursday, July 9, 2015. There is going to be a Potluck and Appalachian Food Program. At our library tonight. You bring your appetite and a dish to share. You can also share an old family recipe and/or family cooking tradition. I thought and thought about what to bring. I was told I was thinking too. Much about what to bring. So, after contemplating on whether to bring an old fashioned stack cake or. A blackberry cobbler or. Cornbread and corn cob jelly or. Squirrel and gr...

Writing in the Blackberry Patch: Springtime Beauty

http://janetsmart.blogspot.com/2015/05/springtime-beauty.html

Writing in the Blackberry Patch. Sunday, May 17, 2015. I love springtime and the beauty it brings upon the earth. Our garden has been planted. Our apple and pear trees are full of little apples and pears. Our blueberries and grapes are full of little green fruits. And our flowers are bestowing upon us their colorful and aromatic gifts. If I Were a Season. Janet F. Smart. If I were a season, I would pick spring. When new life sprouts beneath my feet. And sunshine warms my soul. And sniff her sweet perfumes.

Cheryl's journal: July 2007

http://cherylkobe.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html

What should I blog about today? Thursday, July 5, 2007. Do as I say, not as I do. As we speak (? I am transcribing what I have written thus far for Magdalena. I know, I know, I did say earlier that I wouldn't do this until I had finished, but being the inconsistent, flexible, impatient person that I am.oh well. The words are now forever ensconced on my hard drive. Or until my writing group tells me what to delete to the abyss. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Quotation of the Day.

Cheryl's journal: Socks? No, not yet.

http://cherylkobe.blogspot.com/2008/09/socks-no-not-yet.html

What should I blog about today? Friday, September 26, 2008. No, not yet. Nope I'm not ready for socks. The book came, I ruffled through the pages, got intimidated, closed the book and decided that what I really needed was a poncho for myself. The color is raspberry and it's moving along quite nicely. This what the end result should. I'm not sure about the pom-pom thingies across the bottom. They do serve a purpose- I think- to help weigh down the poncho, maybe, so it lays nicely? Pom-poms or no pom-poms?

Sew Quilty: July 2013

http://myquiltingroom.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 30, 2013. After a short healing period, I started chemotherapy and completed 6 cycles. So now I'm at the Cleveland Clinic preparing for a stem cell transplant. I've gone through the pre-transplant processes, and tomorrow they will begin 'harvesting' my stem cells. If you're still reading this far, I would most assuredly appreciate your prayers. I'm doing my best to get through this. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 2010 Completed Projects OPAM. Christmas Mugrug - November. 2 Pincushions - June.

Sew Quilty: July 2010

http://myquiltingroom.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Friday, July 30, 2010. All of my sewing time today consisted of making 1 triangle. I really like this one. It took me a little while to figure out how I could make it, but it really turned out pretty well. I know the picture makes it look all cockeyed, but trust me, it's really straight. Yesterday I told you I had some red squares to give away, and had 3 comments about them. So I put the names in a hat and pulled Needledmom. Thursday, July 29, 2010. Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Jennifer S. Burrows Children's Author: August 2013

http://jenniferburrows.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, August 3, 2013. Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine. This month I read a mid-grade novel that was made into a movie. Ella Enchanted. By Gail Carson Levine is a fantastical story based on the Cinderella story. The book garnered a nomination for the Newbery Award in 1998. It didn’t win, but I bet it was a close second. The story is clever and witty and digs deep into the classic Cinderella story, answering the question: why did Cinderella obey her step-mother and step-sisters. By Gail Carson Lev...

Friday, May 3, 2013. Albany Children's Book Festival 2013. I met many talented authors and illustrators at the Albany Children's Book Festival. These are my favorites. This is Barbara Dee. She has published many mid-grade novels. Her most recent and very intriguing novel is called. I'd read this book based in the title alone! This is Elizabeth Zunon. She is a talented illustrator that has worked on Patricia MacLachlan picture books. Wow! This is a recent book illustrated by Ms. Zunon. It's called.
