National Memories in Action: Interim Post
http://japanesewarnarratives.blogspot.com/2009/08/interim-post.html
National Memories in Action. Peace and Nationalist Museums in Japan. Tuesday, August 11, 2009. Despite Japan's best efforts (two typhoons AND two earthquakes) we are still going strong. We've traveled up to Osaka and are staying in a weekly mansion. I will hopefully be recruiting someone to write about our vacation in Miyajima and our first day in Kyoto Ritsumeikan. Have a fun day in the States! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Hiroshima, Kaiten, Osaka, Yamato, Kyoto, Yushukan, and Edo-Tokyo.

National Memories in Action: Yes! We are alive!
http://japanesewarnarratives.blogspot.com/2009/08/yes-we-are-alive.html
National Memories in Action. Peace and Nationalist Museums in Japan. Sunday, August 9, 2009. We are terribly sorry about the lack of updating on the blog. Amanda has been shut in, and the rest of us have been emotionally drained by Hiroshima. I'll do a quick rundown of the past couple days - Ben and Katherine will be adding their own two cents later on. August 5th - Yamato Museum. August 6th - Peace Day. Nobody knows for sure. August 7th - Hiroshima Peace Museum. August 8th - Yamato Museum. Four students...
National Memories in Action: Kyoto Adventures
http://japanesewarnarratives.blogspot.com/2009/08/kyoto-adventures.html
National Memories in Action. Peace and Nationalist Museums in Japan. Tuesday, August 11, 2009. Today we rode the shinkansen from Osaka to Kyoto to spend the day there at the Kyoto Museum for World Peace at Ritsumeikan University. Took a few extra bus rides to get there (allowing us to enjoy beautiful Kyoto along the way), but we thankfully weren't delayed by either the earthquake from this morning or large amounts of typhoon rain. There's so much to do! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

JapaneseWanderings – Adventures as an English Teacher
Adventures as an English Teacher. The 16 Books of 2016. January 15, 2017. I managed to read 16 books in 2016, which is a little disappointing considering my original goal of 20 for the year. It’s doubly disappointing because I’m sure 14-year-old me would have easily doubled that number. Although Sherlock wasn’t any less fun because of it. In addition, some of my choices were a little more experimental in genre, which didn’t always make for quick reads. Here is the list (and a quick ranking) below. The Gl...

Japanese War Crimes | Exploring the Legacies of the War With Many Names (1931-1945)
Exploring the Legacies of the War With Many Names (1931-1945). March 28, 2011. Last week a couple of students took me to task for not having a clearer thesis statement on a draft I shared with them for an invited essay I am writing for. Such critiques are a very good sign! March 8, 2011. This is a slightly stilted and scripted rendering, but it is a rather interesting artifact from a 2003 conference and “mock trial” in San Francisco about the role of Emperor Hirohito in the spread of Japanese...And if al...
