Japanese Literature Challenge 5: Suggested Reading List

http://japlit5challenge.blogspot.com/p/suggested-reading-list.html

Japanese Literature Challenge 5. Gleaned from my own research, as well as review posts from the Japanese Literature Challenges 1, 2, 3, and 4, here is a list of Japanese literature from which to choose. It is by no means complete, only a starting place for the great works available to us in this genre. A Wild Sheep Chase. All She Was Worth. Beyond the Blossoming Field. Confessions of A Mask. Diary of a Mad Old Man. First Snow on Fuji. Ghost in The Shell. Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End. I am A Cat.

Thinking About Loud!: November 2011

http://thinkingaboutloud.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Saturday, 26 November 2011. 2012 TBR Pile Challenge. It's no big secret that this is the same with books I bought with the intention to read them "next". What I need is this challenge hosted by Adam. I commit myself to reading 12 determined books I owned for more than one year but have not read yet. Here is my list (incuding 2 alternates and year of publication):. 1 The Rain Before it Falls by Jonathan Coe (2007). 2 The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood (2009). 3 Freedom by Jonathan Franzen (2010).

How to live safely in a fictional universe. There’s Garden State in Japan too. Guy quits his job, dumps his girlfriend, loses his grandmother and returns to the town he hasn’t been in since he left his youth behind. So far, nothing’s new. The mystery man | How to live safely in a fictional universe

https://howtolivesafelyinafictionaluniverse.wordpress.com/2011/07/16/the-mystery-man

How to live safely in a fictional universe. Do you remember where you were on your twentieth birthday? I don’t, but the woman in this story does. On her twentieth birthday she was working as a waitress. And when the manager got sick, she was asked to bring the owner his meal, like the manager did every day. A girl on her twentieth birthday, a mysterious man in a hotel room, waiting for his meal, something bad has to happen, right? I’m still not sure if that was the case, but I did enjoy this story.

How to live safely in a fictional universe. Silas Marner and the wonderful world of public transportation. Another great place to read books: on the bus. The colleague I usually drive to work with is on holiday so I’m taking the bus the next few weeks. Taking the bus adds a half hour to my commute, but I make up for that by reading all the way to work. I can’t do that when I’m driving with someone. This week I read. By George Eliot which, despite being a slow starter, is pretty good and interesting.

Suddenly the world turned sideways | How to live safely in a fictional universe

https://howtolivesafelyinafictionaluniverse.wordpress.com/2011/07/06/suddenly-the-world-turned-sideways

How to live safely in a fictional universe. Suddenly the world turned sideways. Call me oldfashioned, but I’m not a fan of ebooks. Not all new things are bad though: I love these lightweight flipback books. They’re a bit different and easy to hold with one hand, even when they’re 700 pages long. And even though the paper’s extremely thin, the book’s still made of paper! By Stefan Brijs. A pretty good novel about a doctor who goes just a little too far when he’s trying to surpass God. And the hippos were boiled in their tanks. By William S. Burroughs and Jack Kerouac, with me. It’s not that good, until someone is killed and it ends. We're barely half way through, and I think he's devoured more than anyone so far. He asked a question today, though, for which I have no answer. I'm posing it here in case someone else does:.
