After crossing the border at Chuy (Chui in Brazil), Alain and I decided to try to get as many kilometers down as we could before it got dark out. As I drove down the road, everything looked identical to Uruguay, save for the Portuguese signs. While I was driving, I kept saying to myself, Brazilian field, Brazilian gaucho, Brazilian stray-dog and so on…it was all so new! Ze s Lancheria, the first night in Brazil.

I’m in Montevideo on the bus from Tres Cruces station to Red Hostel when I receive a text about the motorcycle that I’m interested in buying. It’s 6:30 pm and it looks like a storm is coming.
