JAW's Thoughts From the Recliner: January 2013
http://jawsrecliner.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
JAW's Thoughts From the Recliner. Monday, January 7, 2013. Occasionally a movie is released that you really want to see. For whatever reasons, you just don’t find time to make it to the theater until it is too late. This happens to me about four or five times a year. This is the case with The Descendants. To be truthful, I don’t even remember when it was out and I definitely don’t remember seeing show times for it at the theater. Somehow, I just missed it. Lucky for me, there is cable television. The the...

JAW's Thoughts From the Recliner. Thursday, January 26, 2012. I knew it was only going to be a matter of time. Recently I have watched a string of movies at the theater which I deemed very entertaining. I knew though, there would be more films I was going to be disappointed in and unfortunately Red Tails. Wasn’t as good as I hoped. Is the story of the famed Tuskegee airmen and their contribution to the war effort in Europe during World War II. This is a great story to be told and an important one at that.

JAW's Thoughts From the Recliner: Lincoln
http://jawsrecliner.blogspot.com/2012/11/lincoln.html
JAW's Thoughts From the Recliner. Monday, November 19, 2012. When you have one of the most accomplished directors in cinema history directing arguably the greatest actor of our generation who is portraying the United States’ greatest President, you expect great things. You can also expect an abundance of hardware over the next three months as well. Daniel Day-Lewis is the greatest of character actors; he completely immerses himself in his roles. This one is no different. This IS Abraham Lincoln. The film...

JAW's Thoughts From the Recliner: June 2012

JAW's Thoughts From the Recliner. Saturday, June 23, 2012. While I am not a fan of musicals, I have been anticipating the film Rock of Ages. For several months now. Even the trailers gave me goose bumps. Despite the poor box office showing in its opening week, I was excited to go today. I was rewarded with a clever, whimsical celebration of the music and culture of the 1980’s. Magazine (much less stuffy than Rolling Stone. Religiously, the story was based on a real theme of the decade but it really is ju...

JAW's Thoughts From the Recliner: August 2012
http://jawsrecliner.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
JAW's Thoughts From the Recliner. Tuesday, August 28, 2012. My All-Time Favorite TV Comedies. The first thing I need to admit to is that I love television and the second thing is that I watch way, way too much of it. I decided a few weeks ago to do a short series on my favorite television programs of all time. The more I thought about it, the more clear it became to me that I needed to split up the list a little and make multiple lists. This first post is dedication to my all time favorite TV comedies.

JAW's Thoughts From the Recliner: July 2012
http://jawsrecliner.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
JAW's Thoughts From the Recliner. Friday, July 13, 2012. I can’t deny I liked Tobey Maguire as Spiderman. I enjoyed the previous three films, especially the first two. Much like the Christopher Nolan/Christian Bale Batman pictures, you mustn’t spend much time comparing The Amazing Spider-Man. With the previously released efforts with other actors and directors. This film stands just fine on its own merits. Maguire was nerdier than Andrew Garfield and really wore his angst on his sleeve. As with some othe...

JAW's Thoughts From the Recliner. Sunday, April 29, 2012. My All Time Favorite Movie Scenes. The following is actually a copy of my most popular post ever on jawssportsandstuff.blogspot.com before I started this blog dedicated to movie and television. If you have already read, I apologize but enjoy it if you haven't. Thanks for reading! While I think Hollywood has been churning out a whole lot of crap over the past two or three years, I haven’t always believed that was true. This list is no different.

JAW's Thoughts From the Recliner: December 2012
http://jawsrecliner.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
JAW's Thoughts From the Recliner. Thursday, December 27, 2012. Seldom am I just pleasantly surprised by a television program. I am often disappointed that a new show on TV is much worse than I expected but it is not very often a show exceeds my expectations. My wife convinced me to give this new show a try and I finally displayed the good sense to listen to her and I gave Wedding Band. My expectations were very low and I was in for one of those rare pleasant surprises. The premise is a simple one. It wou...
